I’ve decided that instead of floral centerpieces I would like to do wooden lanterns with a large candle inside. Our wedding colors are blush pink and light grey. The tablecloths will be white, chair covers white, then napkins and chair sashes will be pink. The tables will also have light pink votives and very small vases of flowers. Would white lanterns blend too much with the white tablecloths and chair covers? What color should the lanterns be?

Could you find gray lanterns? That would tie in gray, since it doesn’t sound like you’ve incorporated anything gray into the tables yet.

I think they will blend too much unless you put something under them (a mirror, a square of fabric, etc). I’d probably paint them a light gray if it wasn’t too much hassle.

White on white is very elegant- leaning towards a formal look. The table won’t be colorless, you will have pink votives and napkins and small vases of flowers.
Here’s a pic for reference (please don’t add the ribbons on top of the lanterns or on the candles)

I think it would look fine, but could you do a runner if you want the centrepieces to stand out more? I was able to rent extra chair sashes (inexpensive) and use them as a runner.
