- Wedding: June 2014
Skip to the bottom for Pics and the TL;DR
I’ve already been engaged for over a year now, but the first time there was no ring and Mr.Riot was determined to have my forever ring on my hand before our wedding June 2014. We have been going back and forth about the ring budget, where to get it (etsy, a store, have it made), and when I should expect it. According to our last big talk about it, I wouldn’t have it untill next year and I was fine about that.
But, about a week ago, I was being my curious self and was on EBAY, I found my dream ring for sale and in our price range. Of course I sent Mr.Riot text after text updating him about the status of the ring and when the bid would be ending. He was appeasing me by getting excited about it and telling me he will seriously consider it. I tried not to bring it up again and he told me to stay off EBAY because everytime I get on, I find a different style of ring that is my new weekly favorite.
So, fast foward to Saturday. It was the last day of the bid, and at 10am there was about 10 hrs left to bid, there had been no bids at all and Mr. Riot wasn’t checking his phone at all, so I started feeling mopey. We had a cake tasting appointment that morning, so the delicious cake kept me from thinking about the ring for a little bit ;).
After the cake appointment, we went to a wine festival at a park near my house. The weather sucked, it rained and it was muddy, but being buzzed all afternoon made everything better. We ended up buying some bottles of wine and went back home to take a nap. I set my alarm for 7pm, 1 hr before the bid ended. I was pretty cranky after my nap and Mr. Riot could tell. He offered to take me to krispy kreme to cheer me up, that buying the ring right now wasn’t good for us financially. I was all “fine, fine let’s go”. He bought us some donuts and took them next door to Starbucks for our usual Saturday night coffee and a movie.
After we ordered our drinks, we we’re talking about school and my phone beeps. The ebay bid was over and the ring was gone. I was visibly upset and and made a silly face to Mr. He laughed at me and dropped his keys while trying to give me a big hig. I leaned over to get them but he was faster than me, and was on one knee. I was trying to figure out what he was doing, in my head saying, “this is a weird place to give me a hug on your knees.” lol… But he pulled out a ring box and when he opened it, I saw that it was not only a ring, it was THE ring from ebay.
He actually has had it for a while and wasn’t going to give it to me untill my birthday in December. But, he saw how worked up I was getting over this EBAY ring and decided to wait untill I was pretty down from him not buying it, to surprise me with the one he already bought. It was pretty funny now knowing that he pretended to be interested in the ring and then blatanly put no effort into getting it for me. I was kind of flustered in the moment and then realized this is how our first proposal went. (he did something annoying on purpose just to surprise me by proposing).
TL;DR: Fiance re-proposed to me with my dream ring. I found my said ring on ebay and was upset that Fiance didn’t buy it because the price was too good to pass up. He actually bought the ring already and was waiting to propose in December. But, after my mini hissy fit, decided this was a good way to end our awesome weekend of wedding planning. I felt like a jerk, but now I realize that he was expecting me to be upset and knew it was the right time to give me my forever ring.
Now for Pics 🙂
