@lilgrizzlygirl: I don’t have pictures, but let me tell you – I have an ivory dress, and I had originally bought a white veil, thinking it would be no big deal. UHM MY DRESS LOOKED YELLOW. Like, buttercream! And then the bridal assistant came over with an ivory veil, put it on, and thank goodness my dress “turned back” to ivory white.

All of the groomsmen are wearing ivory shirts. No white! Don’t do it! It may seem like a minor detail, but honestly, just go and hold something white up to your ivory dress, and you’ll see the difference!

p.s – I’m having a ‘vintage rustic country’ wedding as well! 🙂

p.p.s – We had no problem at all finding ivory shirts. Depending on who you’re going with, any suit/tux shop should have ivory shirts.

@icedchaitea: I’m surprised this is an issue! My dress is “light ivory” I wonder if Fiance can’t wear a white shirt anymore??

My husband wore a white shirt and I wore an ivory dress and I didn’t think it looked bad at all!  I didn’t even really give it a thought actually.  Here’s a picture from our wedding day, first look and reception to show different lighting.

@mandb122: I love that cake picture, you guys look so in love! You’re right too, the white and ivory isn’t that noticeable.

I guess it depends on what shade of ‘ivory’ your dress is! My dress is…well, ‘ivory ivory’ and white would not work at all with it. But if you have a ‘light’ ivory dress than the difference wouldn’t be too much I guess!

I still say the best way to figure it out is to grab something white and put it against your dress – that way you’ll know for sure, and can decide on your own the best decision for you!

My dress is ivory and the guys are wearing white shirts.  To be honest, I really don’t care.  Not everything has to be matchy matchy.  Our tablecloths are white too.  It never occured to me to have the guys wear ivory shirts.

I am doing Ivory…white the groom in a tan suit w/ white shirt. G-men are in white linen shirts w/ Khakis(Mexico wedding). I think all the neutrals cancel out the effect of ivory looking diff than white. However, it will be really sunny and no one will be able to tell.

The bridal shop told me not to get a white dress for an outside wedding or else i would look flourescent. Hope this helps!

I had a light ivory dress, and my husband and all groomsmen wore white shirts. I went back and forth on this for a long time, but in the end went with the white shirts (after being convinced by my photog that it would be ok). I think it was just fine! Didn’t notice it at all. As others have said, it may depend on how dark your ivory is. When I saw the ivory shirts, they just looked dingy to me.

Will try to find a pic that I can upload

I’m a little bit OCD about these types of things too.  I seem to always notice when the men are in white shirts and the bride in ivory.  It likely wouldn’t bother 99% of people, but if you’re one of the people that it would bother, I’d go with an ivory dress with ivory shirts for the guys…. as it, I have a white dress and white shirts on the boys.

We are doing ivory shirts.  White looks way too stark next to my dress.

My dress was ivory, and I bought Darling Husband an ivory tuxedo shirt on eBay.  As it turns out, I’m glad I did, because the tux place we went to didn’t have ivory in the style we wanted.
