@Miss.E:  I always bring lottery tickets to white elephant parties. Kind of silly/funny but not something the recipient will toss in the trash the second s/he gets home 😉

@Miss.E:  I always bring a weird gift, but I make sure to include several mini liquor bottles to make it worth while.  One year I gave away this terribel acid wash jean pocket that my great grandmother had bejeweled and turned into a purse (I wish I was making this up) and I filled it with lots of little bottles.  Have fun with it!!

I went to a cookie exchange party last year that had that. We had like a $10 limit I believe. I brought a thing of penguin ornaments that were at Target. When the game started, the first gift I grabbed was a gift set from Starbucks that included a bag of coffee and a mug. That was taken out of my hands in a matter of seconds. Seriously, I was looking it over when another lady cried out and snatched it from me. Women were literally fighting over that thing and screaming like crazy.

I walked away with rubber wine bottle stoppers which were…….okay….lol

@Miss.E:  Yep, I always disguise them. Although I think people know by now, lol (same group of friends every year).

Ha, the gifts with alcohol are always the hot items at our White Elephant parties!

@Cady:  Wait, are the gifts wrapped or unwrapped? When I go to these parties, the gifts are only unwrapped at the very end, after all the exchanges …?

@wrkbrk:  We were allowed to unwrap it after we picked it up. Her rules were probably a bit different…. she probably thought it would be funny because she is evil like that…. haha

There’s always someone that packs up something really stupid like mooning santa or a toilet bowl brush but with 20 dollars worth of lottery tickets hidden in the package somewhere.

Alcohol or giftcards are always the hot ticket items at the WE parties I attend. Some gift basket type things go well too, depending on the crowd. For example, there was a Starbucks tumbler + coffee combo that was nice. If there are a lot of women, then the Bath and Body Works type lotions or candles work well.

I tend to shy away from useless, funny gifts unless the theme is specifically for funny things because I feel like they’re a waste of money.

There was someone at a WE party I was at that brought a 6 pack of bottle cocacola and on each one they attached tiny bottles of rum.  It was a very popular item.  I swear I’m not an alcoholic, I just think tiny bottles of liquor are adorable and fun around the holidays! lol

I just attended a white elephant party this weekend. One of the biggest hit gifts was a 4-pack of specialty cupcakes and a starbucks card.
