@scr41698:   I have a white gold engagement ring and I hate it. It turns yellow all the time. We have to redip all the time. If I knew then what I knew now I wouldn’t have gotten it. I do have a platinum 1910s wedding band and I love it. LOVE. At some point, I will get an antique platinum engagement ring.

I think it depends on what you want. White gold is more shiny while platinum does not require maintaining. I would go with platinum because I’m lazy!

If it’s just the prongs/head definitely platinum. It’s more likely to bend than break offering greater protection for your stone.

Nowadays platinum is the first choice for wedding ring however I personally like white gold as gold has it’s charm.

Platinum would be my choice. I love the weight of it and it’s more durable

I voted for platinum. I love the weight to it. I also love that I don’t have to get it re dipped.

I am a yellow gold fan but my stones are almost always set in platinum. My jeweler says platinum is a bit stronger for prongs
