Hello, all! Total newbie (new-bee? Ha!) here. Sorry if this is a super annoying question to ask. Just kinda crowd-sourcing opinions while I try and make up my mind about my ring! Haha
My boyfriend and I just picked out a ring last week (from Etsy, of all places!) I’m so excited for it! But I am on the fence about one thing.
The pictures/videos available of the ring show it in white gold (which is stunning!) but we have decided to order it in rose gold instead. We just placed the order yesterday (so there’s time to adjust, as this ring is made-to-order!) and now, the more than I think about the ring/try to visualize it in rose gold, I’m wondering whether I should contact the seller and try to find out if it’s possible to get the prongs in white gold (but the rest of the ‘rose’ and band still in rose gold)? Honestly, I’m not even sure if it’s possible, due to the design of the ring! So obviously if it’s not possible, this question is pointless lol but right now, I’m operating under the assumption that it would be!
I keep flip-flopping back and forth about this one! I really like the uniformity of the entire ring being the same color (including the prongs) but I also feel like the white gold prongs might “blend” into the moissy better/make the stone look larger? AHHH I can’t decide! Hahaha
I know I will still love this ring whether the prongs are in rose or white gold… I’ve never seen a ring quite like it before, so I love how unique it is. (Plus I’ve been obsessed with Beauty and the Beast since I was three years old, so the rose is perfect! ) But I am wondering what you guys think about the prongs… My soon-to-be-fiance is so helpful (“It’s beautiful either way!” lol). So I’m just seeking out some other opinions!
Below are some pictures of the ring (as well as a video). Just keep in mind that these pics and the video show the ring in white gold, but mine will be in rose gold!
(Not sure if the video will work, but I’m gonna try!)

<div style=”background: #F8F8F8; line-height: 0; margin-top: 40px; padding: 50.0% 0; text-align: center; width: 100%;”> </div>
So… yay or nay to white gold prongs? Thanks so much for your input, guys!

Either will be beautiful but I vote white gold.
I love the way it makes the prongs melt into the stone.

I’m with @Jillyb33 !! I think the white gold suits the diamond better and it would give it a floating look above the rose design. Love your ring!! 😍

Thank you both for the input! The more I think about it, the more I think you guys (and most of the people who answered the poll) are right about the white gold prongs! I’m gonna contact the jeweler tomorrow and ask about it. Fingers crossed that it’s possible! (And if not, oh well haha)
Thanks again! ^_^

I have a rose gold ring with platinum prongs, I 100% love it! The white prongs make them barely noticeable and I love the way the diamond stands out against the rose band

I vote platinum. White gold if that’s not possible (though if the plating wears off it will be off white/champagne color, plus platinum is stronger)…you still get the look of rose gold but it makes the moissanite look a LOT better when the prongs are white in my opinion. I have a yellow gold ring with platinum prongs. It looks great. Then the metal color isn’t taking away from the stone, and the stone can stand out more yet contrast nicely with the rose (or in my case yellow) gold shank.

Thanks agian for your input! (And I love your ring, mrskurz! !!)
Unflrtunately I just heard back from the jeweler and he can’t do the white gold prongs 🙁 We ordered the ring yesterday and figured it would be a few days before he started working on it, but he’s already put the ring in for casting so it’s too late to change.
So… after the overwhelming response from everyone saying white prongs will be better (plus my own thinking on it) I really convinced myself that the white prongs were what I wanted. So I am kind of freaking out worrying that I’ll end up hating my ring and forever wishing the prongs were different :’( I’m actually crying a little lol Trying to calm myself down!
I might need to put a plea out there to see people’s rings with rose gold prongs so I can feel better! haha

TBH, I actually like the look of rings with colored prongs, too me, the white gold prongs look strange with yellow or rose gold settings, but it’s all about personal preference. It’s not the end of the world if you’d hate it. Rings can definitely be repronged.

I echo the PP who pointed out that white gold goes off white when the plating begins to wear off. It might not have been as flattering to your stone then, so the rose gold could turn out to be a better choice in the long run.

Sorry you cant change it, but I honestly prefer the rose gold prongs with the rose gold ring better.. I recently got a rose ring made in yellow gold and got my prongs in yellow too, cause I like it being all one color. Here’s a pic of mine! Also…. Your ring is gorgeous, it’s gonna be amazing in rose gold!
