My wedding ring is white gold. I’ve been thinking of how my ring will look like in yellow gold. I know it’s easy to go from yellow to white gold just by having it plated and then just keep up with the plating.
But is it the same process to just have a white gold ring plated to yellow gold?? Would I also have to keep up with plating it in yellow gold? Has anyone done this? How was your experience?
I did speak with my jeweler he said they could remove the rhodium then plate it yellow gold.
My last question to you ladies will it look nice in yellow gold? This is my ring and some rings,

I looked up to visualize the look of yellow gold. Thanks Bees

I almost always prefer yellow gold, but plating kind of defeats the purpose, IMO. Yellow gold plating will likely require MORE maintenance than rhodium plating, as it will wear away faster. Gold plating doesn’t last long for me at all, although everyone’s body chemistry is different.
And it depends on the look you are going for. Yellow gold really highlightst the design of the pave, but white gold makes it all shine. Completely different looks. But if you really want yellow gold, I would have the setting remade otherwise you may be replating all the time.

I just did this with my wedding band, I changed it from white to yellow gold so now I have a mixed metal look. Yellow plating rubs off so much quicker than rhodium and doesn’t really look the same as a true yellow gold ring. My jeweler recreated the ring.
This is my set in all white gold.

Here’s my set with the yellow gold band.
