I actually had the opposite experience of sminerva21! I loved my dress but I wanted stark white, because I was afraid ivory would look too “old” or washed-out–but it was only available in ivory so I took a chance. It is the palest shade of ivory and I think it suits my skin tone even more than pure white would have–and it even gets my traditionalist mom’s stamp of approval!

Mine is … antique white. It’s not ivory at all, not stark white … it’s a soft beautiful white.

I am fair skinned so white-white was not a good color for me.  My dress is called Ivory but its not the yellow-ivory color, its more on the white side.  If that makes sense 🙂

I chose the colour of my dress based on what looked best on me.  I found champagne dresses kind of washed me out, as did white white dresses.  I ended up loving the colour ivory of the dress I chose…and it worked really well with my skin tone.  Just try on one of each and see which you like best on yourself 🙂  Also be aware that ivory by different company’s is not necessarily identical! Some are much “yellowier” than others.  One of my fave colours of all time is duipioni silk in natural…soo gorgeous!

I had a hard time in the poll, my dress is a champagne slip with ivory lace on top – which color to choose! It really warmed my skin tone, wheras I looked scary in the white white dresses. 🙂

I am very, very pale, and my skin is pink-toned. After trying on a few dresses, there was no doubt in my mind that I had to go ivory. I looked absolutely Corpse Bride in white.

I ended up buying a white dress, which looked really nice since I currently have a bit of a tan.  I’m normally pale with freckles, but my wedding is at the end of May and I’m planning on testing out some spray tan before.  I was told that white white looked better on me than an ivory based on my coloring (fair skin, light eyes, dark hair, freckles).  I did try on a blush colored dress that also looked fantastic on, color-wise.

Just try different colors on and see where you feel best!

I am somewhat pale, but “olive-y” if that makes sense.  White worked best for me.  Ivory made me look yellow.

I just look better in ivory.  I think it’s more flattering on a lot of people.
