    hi!

I voted for ivory. I’ve been told that if you are really white (as am I) that you shouldn’t choose a stark white dress. Ivories are supposed to look better on whiter skin and white dresses are said to wash you out (if you’re really white). The only dress that I have liked so far (after trying it on) was an ivory dress. I’m not sure if that is just coincidence. If you think you can tan (and it’s safe for your skin!) then white should be fine.

I personally always prefer ivory no matter what skin type you have.

Totally depends on the designer. The colors are not standard across different brands. In some brands “white” means stark white whereas “ivory” is a softer more natural shade. In others, “ivory” can be really yellow and make pale skin look washed out, and “white” can be more of a flattering off-white/diamond white. For example I prefer Maggie Sottero’s ivory but really dislike Lazaro’s and Kenneth Pool’s ivory. Do you have a dress already picked out? If so, ask to see a sample in either color. If you post pictures or the dress name we can also give more educated opinions.

I didn’t vote because I think you should try some gowns on in both white and in ivory and then make a decision. I am about as white as you can get with green eyes and I am wearing a white gown and I have had noting but compliments from the people that have seen me in it.

I looked washed out in white and have the same colouring as you.  I love how the ivory looks in person and it looks white in pictures!

I also have very pale skin (overnight worker… very little sunlight). I voted ivory for you just because that’s what looked best for my skin tone.

But my skin, while pale, is more pink in it’s natural tone… so a warmer colored dress contrasts in a very complimentary way. If your skin is more olive colored naturally than pink, I would change my vote to white.

Having the same problem. My mom insist that a wedding dress should be white BUT I feel that ivory is a much more romantic color.

Try on the dresses in both colors..

I’m also fair-skinned and ivory is so much more flattering on me. Stark white just accentuates how white we are- lol. 🙂
