- Wedding: November 2012
So, I signed a contract to purchase this gown (Essense of Australia D1098) already. LOOOOVVVVE it:
In love with the dress and think it’s perfect. However, I can’t decide between ivory and white. Here’s the deal:
Ivory – Pros
The dress I fell in love with when I tried on was in ivory.
My skin looks good in ivory.
I can get the colored belt in ivory.
Ivory is supposedly better for outdoor weddings (mine is late afternoon, on the beach, so it will be seen in the daylight AND nighttime)
Ivory – Cons
Fiance is in the marines and wearing dress blues with stark white bottoms. I won’t match perfectly, is that a bad thing? Afraid of looking dingy next to him.
It might clash with our white curtains/tablecloths?
White – Pros
My skin looks good in white (equally as good as it does in ivory)
White will look clean and crisp next to his blues.
I won’t have to worry about “clashing” with him or any decor.
Since the beginning of the dress hunt I’ve said I wanted white.
White – Cons
The dress is a super shiny luxurious satin – in white it may look “cheap.”
I might look TOO bright (like hurting your eyes bright) – especially in the sun.
I can’t get the colored belt if I order white. If I get white, the only belt option would be in white. I’m worried the belt may blend in with the rest of the dress and make it look plain.
Here I am trying it on:
Here is the fabric next to his pants (they’re stained, lol)
I’ve tried EVERYTHING. I’ve called every store in FL, no one has it in stock in white. The store I bought it at doesn’t have any gowns by that designer in white for me to try, nor do they have an already ordered dress in white in the back. All they had was a swatch, which didn’t help me. I’ve scoured the internet for hours looking for it in white – no luck. WHITE OR IVORY!??!?!?!?
