IThis is white:)

1st one is ivory.    I thought it was too yellow for me. I have “gold” undertones but cool skin toned if that makes sense. I ended up with a VeraWang ivory dress from DB though. It is a creamy ivory:)

I love allure lace dresses in white and was originally going to get my dress in white but once I tried it on it didn’t compliment my skin tones and with me having an outdoor wedding it would have been too white. The ivory didn’t seem yellow to me it was just more of a warm color.

Here is my allure in ivory. i’m pleased with my choice.

I ordered the same dress cherryblossomlove has on (8764) in white, but tried it on in ivory.  I thought pretty much all of the ivory dresses were too yellow or looked dingy on me (light golden olive skin tone, brunette).

i don’t have any pictures of me in my ivory dress because they only had white at the store, but i chose the ivory because the white made me look even more pale than i really am. i really don’t think its something to worry about, i honestly don’t think i’ve never seen an ivory wedding dress that looked yellow. i mean they sell almost every dress out there in ivory, so i think it’s just basically whatever you think looks good with your skin tone and the color palette of your wedding.

An ivory dress will not look ivory. You should get what matches your skin tone best, which for most women is ivory.

I have Allure ivory.  I struggled with the decision but went with ivory because I’m quite pale skinned and was worried the white would wash me out.  The girls at my dress salon said the Allure ivory is one of the lightest ivories.  Are you pale or darker skinned? I think white looks really pretty on darker skin while ivory looks nice on lighter skin.

@Anise:  the white is very pretty! I am brunette and kinda pale lol. A lot of ivory samples didnt look right ountil until I tried on my Vera Wang:) just have to find the right ivory I guess:) I was dead against ivory too!!

@cherryblossomlove:  Some ivories do look darker than others, and I know that I’m particularly color sensitive.  All the ivory dresses I tried on looked pale yellow on me; not to say they wouldn’t look good on someone else but it’s something that I would notice and would be bothered by.  I did try on one white dress that tone-wise looked very good on me, and my Fiance said that he preferred to see me in white also (he went dress shopping with me).

I was actually really shocked with how dark most of the ivory gowns looked to me, but I really think this is my perception.  I tried on one champagne dress that looked light brown on me, so I think for my particular skin tone ivory/champagne/gold just isn’t right.

I totally understand why someone would get an ivory dress over a white one, it’s just not something that would work for me.

Maybe the OP could go to a different salon and try on a white gown in a similar style for comparison?  Otherwise you’ll have to try on the ivory gown and see if it looks too dark or yellow when it’s on you.

Chances are this is one of those decisions that only really matters to you, and no one will notice or care.

I purchased an Allure lace gown in ivory but will not be able to try it on again until March! The only color they had in the store was cafe which I thought was really pretty just a tad to dark for me! I wanted to be more towards the white side without being bright white. I was lucky enough to see my same dress in white as they had another girls dress in store that they showed me, and by just looking at it it was so white it almost had a blueish tint to it. I didn’t like it! But my dress also has alot of bling and threading on it so with the white it just didn’t blend well in my opinion! I’m a little worried myself as to what it will look like as I ordered a dress in a color I’ve never seen! Even though I tried on many ivory dresses they were by different designers and I’m sure different designer means different shade of ivory. I want it to look like I’m wearing white without it being blinding if that makes any sense! lol I know their colors go: white/ivory, ivory/ivory, cafe/ivory so if it’s a completely lace dress and you choose white it will probably be an ivory dress with white lace overlay or vice versa which in my opinion doesn’t blend well! I plan on having a nice tan come June when I get married so hopefully the ivory will look good against my skin tone! I think it matters more what dress you get and what color goes best with it! Hope that helps, sorry so long!!!

Sorry I had to add that all the pics we took of me in the cafe/ivory sample dress all turned out different. Some pics the cafe looked really gold, yellowish and some it actually looked bright white which was no where near the color. So lighting plays a big role too! I say ivory is the best choice since it is in the middle of the color scale, so hopefully I made the right choice! 🙂
