Before we got engaged last year I decided I just wanted to wear my gandmothers wedding band (plain band with 3 diamonds in it). I have a problem with most diamonds and just couldn’t jusitfy the money spent on a diamond ring. I was happy with it for a few months until i got on weddingbee and saw all the pretty rings everyone had. then I started getting ring envy.
I now want a new ring, Fiance won’t care and I can use the band as my wedding band. I want a real stone but I want the bling look of a diamond. I am considering a white sapphire. Has anyone on here seen or had a white sapphire engagement ring? How did it look? Does it look like a diamond? I wouldn’t try to pass it off as a diamond but I want a similiar look as one

I have a white sapphire and I LOVE IT! I alsAndy not a fan of diamonds, but wanted something light coloseppia be my guy found a gorgeous ring. The sapphire picks up the rose gold in my band and gives it a lovely blush house in certain lights. Here’s a pic

Yes, I have a white sapphire. We were going to get moissanite, but I saw this at Zales, and I fell in love with it! Originally, it was set in sterling silver, but we had it reset in white gold.

@WillowTreeWade: I don’t have one, but I recommend looking at Etsy — I know they have popular designers there.

Oh wow, I actually had the same ring, as I bought the set for the pendant and earrings for my wedding. I thought I could wear the gorgeous cushion sapphire ring as a placeholder when my ring was away, but I found the sterling silver setting too fragile. The prongs were bending, and I so I returned it. But you had a fantastic idea to reset it in white gold!!! It looks beautiful!
Here it is in silver:
I have an art-deco square cluster ring made of white sapphires. When the sapphires come from the jeweler, they look great, shiny and clear. But I find they dirty quite fast, because sapphires have more attraction to oils. You would need to clean it often to keep its luster. Also, I can see through the square sapphire, which I don’t like. In a diamond, the refraction in a good cut will prevent seeing through it. Another difference is that the sapphire mostly has white flashes of light. I prefer the way my diamond ring sparkles, by far.
My square sapphire ring next to my round diamond ring. Notice how you can see my skin throught the stones…
I have seen some drop dead gorgeous white sapphires here on the bee. I really like the larger stones 😉
Here is my favorite from another bee, in a Tacori setting. *Love*!

This is my white sapphire engagement ring. I love it! You must know, it doesn’t sparkle quite like a diamond. It doesn’t have the rainbows like a dimond, it is more of a clear sparkle. It is definitely still pretty, but don’t expect it to look exactly like a diamond.

Your black and white ring is Amazing!! Capital A! I’ve been toying with the idea of getting a black stone band to go with my e-ring and exchange back and forth with my wedding band, and I think your pics have sealed the deal!
As for the OP’s question, I love white sapphires, and while there are some differences between them and diamonds, to the casual observer, I don’t think there would be any real question.
