@stillwaiting88:  oh that photo isn’t MY ring, it’s one I keep looking at on Etsy. I love the natural reference in the “twig” band and I also love emerald cuts.

I had a white sapphire before the prong snapped off (my fault, nothing to do with the white sapphire LOL).  I think they are really lovely, I had a princess cut and it was so clear and beautiful, it looked like a step cut.  Mine was lab created, so it was flawless AND durable.  Very cost effective.  They can be extremely pricey if you are looking for an earth mined white sapphire that hasn’t been heat treated, etc etc, but even Natural Sapphire Co has decent prices on natural white sapphires.  Worth looking in to, IMO.

I meant to add that mine was only cloudy when dirty, so I gave it a quick clean every day.  But I do that to my diamond too.

I think a couple of bees have white sapphire rings from helzbergs. I got a pink asha that just came in today! I haven’t seen it yet so I’m DYING for 5pm…Have you thought about Moissanite? I know the only available is forever brilliant. It’s all personal preference really. Asha’s are beautiful in person. I think once your mom sees the sparkle of asha, she might change her mind.

I have one unset…  they are pretty, but not diamond like.  They do throw some white flashes, and if cut well, can be quite lively, but they look very different from a diamond.  I would probably prefer it to CZ though, coated or not, because I like my stones to last forever, and CZ will not.  A sapphire may.  I would look at moissanite as another alternative.
