Just had to say I’m in awe of some of these gorgeous rings! White sapphires are lovely!
The pics from MightySapphire and Iggy make me drool all over my screen!
I think whatever stone suits your personality and is given in love is the right one!

AMEN to that bellenga!! I’m not saying sapphires are the best or better, I’m saying it was the best for ME. But I adore looking at everyone’s rings! (Amethysts are really pretty too!)

I finally got my white sapphire E-Ring today!!!! (We got engaged 3 months ago, but took a long time to finally find the setting I wanted and the stone we wanted). I knew I wanted to have a sapphire on my e-ring (it’s my birthstone), and I have never been big on diamonds, so white sapphire was a natural choice.
I have experienced some negative comments when people heard we were planning on getting a white sapphire (one co-worker even point blank asked, “if money was no object, wouldn’t you rather have a diamond? Do you just not want (FI) to spend that much money?”). I think an e-ring is a very personal choice, and sometimes what you think you want is not what ends up being right for you (I thought I wanted a very art-deco flashy ring, but when I tried them on, it just didn’t work for me, even though i LOVE them on other people), so I get a little annoyed when people just go “oh” when I mention my white sapphire– but whatever… because I think my ring is GORGEOUS!!

I’m a bit late to the game, but I LOVE sapphires, and I chose a white sapphire for my engagement ring as well. I’ve never been much of a diamond gal.

Yay for white sapphire engagement rings! I just got engaged last friday and since we picked the ring out together, I already knew my ring was beaut. I’ve yet to take a picture of it on my finger but here she is in all her stunning glory:
It is all white sapphire. Wouldnt trade this baby for a diamond even if I liked them.

Just got mine tonight and LOVE IT!

@moderndaisy: I get that about my solitaire too.. I always wonder if people say that because it looks so big on my fingers or because it is a well-cut diamond. I love anything sparkly, these white sapphire rings are so pretty.

These rings are gorgeous. I wear a blue saphire solitaire on my right hand and am very fond of them. The only problem is that it chips! It’s a tiny tiny chip, but I can tell when I run my fingernail across it. I’ve worn it for about 5 years.

@MissBuffalo: Sorry to hear about your chipped sapphire! I do think it is rare for sapphires to chip, though…I’ve worn one of my sapphires nearly every day for 6 years and it’s still in great shape. It’s been through some tough stuff!

Very beautiful ladies! I love looking at your rings, no matter what the stones are and I wish I had known all the options before we bought mine.

Wow, littleaudrey, your ring is so tasteful! And not just because of its size… Based on my recent experience overseas, I would recommend wearing a plain band of some sort. Because of the size of your center stone, it would still attract attention, and the last thing you want is to have to give up your ring! Plus, I’m assuming most people would assume it’s white gold, not silver, so they would really be after it, with the inflated gold rate these days. Just my 2 cents. All of the above rings are gorgeous!

chilledout– yeah it’s pretty large. I’m teaching in the Persian Gulf, so most of my students’ moms have larger rings than that. I did get it reset into a yellow gold solitaire, but I only wear it on special occasions. Theft is very rare in the gulf, but when I went to Paris I definitely felt like I could be mugged at any time.

For the record, I LOOOOOVVVEEEEE white sapphires and was dead set on getting one as the center stone in my e-ring. I loved them simply because they were beautiful and unique. I had a friend who for sociopolitical reasons does not and will not wear a diamond, so she has a white sapphire ring, BEAUTIFUL.
Ditto and thanks you to the other ladies who addressed the snarky, snide and misinformed comments smh :-/ How crass, but I digress.
If you choose a white sapphire ring good for you, they are beautiful. It doesn’t matter what others think, as long as you’re happy!
