@sapphirestar: Mmmmmm hmmmmm. I understand. I’m waiting, patiently, sort of, for my stone and setting from them as well. We were ‘waiting’ for financial reasons and when I picked out a giant stone and blingy setting for under $2000, he was shocked. SO is traditional in so far as he wants me to have a big, pretty ring. He’d been thinking he’d need to spend at least $8000. Once I told him how much I liked the sapphire option and how much it would cost, he totally changed tune about what ‘soon’ meant. Now he jokes that I might as well just put his credit card info in to order the ring because I’ll know when my stone is purchased…but that’s just how we are! He’s AWFUL at anything planning/surprise related. And I always find out what he’s up to, intentionally or not. Hahahaha.

I think lots of times men are waiting to have enough money and they don’t realize that an e-ring doesn’t have to be 3 months of a professional salary! Let him know. Bring it up casually but tell him you’re really serious about wanting a sapphire and what you dream your ring will look like. In my situation, I told SO that I had decided I really don’t want a diamond after all. And for reasons beyond price but certainly that had something to do with it. After he learned that, he was much more ready to get engaged than I’d even suspected. It was money holding him back the whole time.

Good thing you can bring it up on WB! That’s what we’re here for! 🙂 What does the sparkly look like? I’m sure we can all appreciate a little bling to look at while we’re waiting!

Oh man, I seriously love Natural Sapphire Company! That was the first place I’ve ever found a ring setting that made me say “Oh, WOW!” I’m 99% sure that I’d like my “real” e-ring to come from them; Fiance refers to my current ring as the “starter” since he bought it in a hurry and for not a lot of money. (I’m not arguing…)The only problem is I can’t make up my mind about the actual color of the sapphire!

I told Darling Husband I didn’t want a traditional diamond ring.  It opened up the conversation for what I would want, which led to when I would want it.  As long as there is no ultimatum, there’s no harm in talking about it either!

@Ms. Pink Scrubs: Right? There are so many! I totally want an icy blue one….a yellow one….a pinky/orange one…..I also want an aquamarine and a ruby. So I think the solution will be….a right-hand ring to match every outfit. That will make anniversary presents easy for him. haha!

@artichokey: Yeah, it’s just brutal. So many pretty colors! I was poking around on the site and found the setting I love comes in rose gold <swoon> which would look amazing with a rosy brown sapphire. Then the Padparadscha sapphires are just so striking, then I start drooling over the blue pear cut stones….maybe in a white gold halo setting with a pave band…

I think I need an intervention!
