I always prefer ivory over white. I think the difference in shades between your dress and the backdrop will be minimal and will not show in pictures.

Ivory is more flattering on skin, and the details usually photograph better. I would stick with ivory.

I think white dresses are a LOT harder to photograph, and I’d worry about “anishing” against the white back drop!

So I’m glad you went ivory! For reference: My dress was Maggie’s light gold, and it still looked white in pictures. Ivory dresses definitely look white!

I think the ivory would look beautiful!

My dress was ivory and I had a white backdrop at our ceremony and I don’t think it made the dress look dingy or off. I think the ivory made the floral details really pop!

I think ivory looks a lot better. It photographs well, and doesn’t wash out fair skin like white can.

@EllEmm005:  This is one of those things that at the end of the day, will be fine whichever way you choose. I thought I’d order an ivory dress because I’m so fair-skinned, but I ended up loving the way the white looked. But ivory or white though…you and your dress will be beautiful! If ivory is what you originally loved, I say go with your gut! 🙂

I’ll always pick ivory, I think it flatters 99% of skin tones while white washes most people out. And the details don’t show up as well on pure white.

I like white a lot more than ivory. Just my preference. I wanted a pure white and not an off-white. Granted, I have darker skin tone and didnt get that washed out look to my skin. I was also nervous about how it would photograph. But the white photographed just as lovely or better than the ivory sample I tried on. definitely do plenty of research and look at plenty of white before u get too scared away from it. Its totally worth it.
