I wanted ranunculas for my August wedding and had the same problem. However, my florist decided to use silk – they are very realistic and I like the idea of having flowers in my bouquet that I can keep. Ask your florist if she can find peonies in silk. If you mix silk flowers in with real flowers, no one will be able to tell the difference!

and PS, I don’t mean the cheap silk flowers you buy at a craft store – you can get VERY realistic silk flowers through a professional florist. my centerpieces are going to be silk flowers and i couldn’t even tell the difference when i looked at them up close!

emmkae:  August is hot and flowers wilt easily.  My suggestion is Hydrangas- 50 years ago we used stefanosis, carnations, glads and a mystery flower for my bridesmaids.  I’m trying to find out what they were.

My son’s wife used hydrangas and was really please with them.  We used potted ones on the tables and a huge bouquet from my sisters yard for the guest registry table.  Good luck oh and we ordered them including the bouquets from Safeway Grocery Store.
