@muckmoo1: we are planning on doing one for our May wedding. I bought 8 jars from someone on weddingbee.com and 4 of them were broken when they arrived.  I bought the remaining ones at T.J Maxx….usually only like $10 each.

we just ordered our candy last night. http://www.acandystore.com was the best place and the prices were great! they have $9.95 flat rate shipping too. that was the best bang for our buck! i’ve bought some jars and bowls, etc from the dollar store and I bought some at world market.  i’m borrowing some as well.  we are also doing the colored/flavored popcorn on the candy table as well to add a little bit of variety. http://www.popcornpapa.com is a great place for that!

We’re doing a candy bar and found a ton of cool jars and bowls for just a couple of dollars each at thrift stores! Then I asked a few family members and came up with even more containers, so I think we’re set! You should definitely try thrifting, or if your parents/in-laws/aunts/uncles/friends have been living in the same house for a long time, I guarantee they have a few usable containers stashed away!

I don’t have photos to share right now but we purchased all of our glass cannisters for our candy bar at TJ Maxx/Marshalls/HomeGoods.  My mom had some already, so we didn’t need too many.

And as for candy, unless it was something extremely specific, i.e. chocolate covered espresso beans, I didn’t order in bulk.  I was told 5lbs of each type of candy and we only had very little to bring home. So I believe in the 5lb.

We ordered espresso beans and the malted milk balls online through a nut shop.  I just shopped around for the best prices.  And the candy I bought at walmart.

1. swedish fish

2. smarties

3. reeses

4. espresso beans

5. chocolate covered malted milkballs

6. Peppermint Patties

It worked out great.

We got all different jars from Marshalls, Homegoods, and craft stores (only with coupons there!).  We just picked them up over time as we found good deals.  For the candy, we got it all at BJs.
