There has been quite a few boards on this actually and I would say every person and location is different and some factors may include budget and how generous you might want to be.  I am getting married a week from today in northern NJ.  I am tipping our event planner/matre’d, waiters, bartenders, valet, coat check, florist and helpers, ceremony musician, and band.  Gratuity is included in the limos and since I only have them for 2 hours I will not be adding on.  For the photographer and videographer they both run their own business and I may tip them when I see the final product but will not be that day.  Hope this helps!  I asked many of my friends what they did to finally get to this.

I’m just lost on what to tip the caterer. She owns the business, and will have 5 people setting up and serving. Do I tip them and her and how much do I tip her for about a $7,000 bill? Any suggestions.

Related question here, bree. I read somewhere that you tip each waitperson about $20-$30/hour, tip the head catering person about $200, and so on. So you could add $200 to the total bill for her, if you feel like it’s appropriate.

Not sure what other people have heard, but I like that plan a *lot* better than tacking 20% onto our giant catering bill.
