My fiance and I are planning on eloping in a hotel room that has always had a special meaning to us, and I am wondering about decor. The room is beautiful in itself. It has floor to ceiling windowsthat overlook the entire city at night. Adjacent to the bedroom is a beautiful jacuzzi tub and the rest of the bathroom. I would love to have the room accented with white candles all around, but I have a few questions about it. First off, is it worth it to pay a wedding planner to decorate the room (mind you, we are eloping so we probably don’t want any friends or family helping to set up)? Also, if the hotel says we cannot use candles, what are some other options to make the room elegant without pulling too much focus from the beautiful view?

Re: candle alternatives – You could get electric candles, although they would probably be much more expensive. String lights could look elegant, too, if you could hang them from the ceiling, fan, walls, or furniture in a pretty design. You can get them with white globes or other shapes that look nicer than bare bulbs.

You could do it on your own if there is enough time before the ceremony (are you getting there the day before ?)
You could have a Wedding Consultant do the set-up if you aren’t there ahead of time, they’d also take care of acquiring the required materials
You could contact the Hotel’s Special Events Dept / Weddings / or Concierge and work with them to get it done (although might be difficult if you have to acquire the decorations in your Destination City beforehand)
Many Hotels don’t allow real candles (sucks, because I agree they look amazing in large quantities) next best would be those battery operated candles, or twinkle lights. Enough of both, and a darkened room could look magical
