As a travel agent, let me rest your thoughts.

First… Carnival is an awesome cruise line, and you will have many things to do on the Pride. More than likely the pricing was lower than what you would have  found otherwise without flying down to Florida for a cruise, and you have plenty of time between now and the time final payment is due in April for price drops, or room upgrades, whichever you decide to do. My advise is to watch the pricing for your exact sail date and room category, and when you see the pricing has dropped, let your travel agent know, so that the price can be adjusted. If they won’t do it for you, call Carnival and let them know so that they can get involved.

By The Way… there is a reason that she is quoting misinformation from a “hairdresser” that hairdresser is not a travel agent, and obviously doesn’t have a clue.

There are issues with every cruise line out there, however carnival is the largest of them all, been around the longest for mainstream lines, and is doing very well at keeping their cruisers happy.

Um…whoa. No offense meant (really), but is this normal behavior for your grandmother? Because it sounds completely, off-the-hook irrational. If this is a recent behavioral change, it might be good for her to be screened for various health conditions that can cause personality changes as people age.

@HappilyEverAfter54:  Not a problem.Glad I could make you feel better.

if it was me…i would maybe tell grandma that your travel agent next time said that her hair was just a little longer on one side than the other, and maybe she will be clued in a bit.

hair dresser= hair advice

travel agent= travel advice.

Don’t let her get you down! Cruises are awesome.. we plan to take one for our honeymoon.. and we’ve both done cruises before.  Carnival is great.. they’re so much fun!  The crowd is typically younger and more lively than some other cruise lines.  i’m sure you two will have an awesome time!

And i’m right there with you about not sharing details… I share them very sparingly with a few friends.  I let my mom know only necessary things every once in a while.  I don’t need validation for ideas from anyone outside of me and my Fiance.  My mom already ticked me off a bit because my Fiance & I plan to leave St. Thomas (where our destination wedding is) and go on a cruise in Europe instead of staying in St. Thomas.  She told me that we’re trying to do too much and blah blah blah… um, newsflash, I wasn’t asking you what we should do, I was telling you what we are going to do!  Lol.  St Thomas is not a whole week’s worth of excitement… more like 3 days worth lol.  Plus we really wanted to go somewhere we’ve both never been for our honeymoon.

I’ve never been on a cruise, but grandma needs to back off.  If you’re happy with it, she should be happy with it, end of story.  It doesn’t matter what things she’s done to help you, if she’s not paying for it, she doesn’t have a say in my opinion.  Sorry she’s acting so crazy, but don’t let it ruin your weekend (or day) 🙂

Your gonna have a blast. I’ve been on carnival, twice, enjoyed them both. Did I have some issues –sure minor ones that you can experience with ANY cruise line. I’ve also gone on NCL and had great time there to.

My only advice for the future, you don’t owe ANYONE any explaination about how your paying for damn thing when its YOUR freaking money. Thats just giving them to much power and info. Now she’ll think she can bull you again on some other topic.
