Hello, bees! My fiance and I got engaged two weeks ago (I just posted about it), and I have officially asked all my girls to be my bridesmaids. Just for fun, who are your bridesmaids? Who is/are your maid/matron(s) of honor? How many do you have? How do you know them and how long have you known them? Why did you choose to have these particular women or a particular number? How long before the wedding day did you ask them? And do tell if you asked your girls in a cute or creative way. Feel free to answer as many questions as you like. Also, I want to acknowledge that not all brides choose to have bridesmaids, and that’s cool too!
I have 8 bridesmaids. I think smaller bridal parties look neater, but the people are more important than the number. I asked them all the week we got engaged, which is 7 months before the wedding.
My 2 younger sisters are my maids of honors. They are 18 and 16, so that’s how long I’ve known each of them.
I also have my sister-in-law and a future-sister-in-law. I have known them both for about 4 and a half years.
I have a college friend who I have known for two years.
Then I have my 3 college/current roommates, who I have only known since February of this year. However, living together has brought us all so close to each other. I am moving out and going back home in December because that’s when I graduate, and I am going to miss living with them so much!
I love all of my girls and can’t wait to hear about yours!

I actually only have one bridesmaid (she is my maid of honor!) and she is my twin sister. I’ve known her since before I was born haha 😉. I think why I asked her is pretty obvious. I was engaged in May and I asked her in July because that’s just when I saw her. She lives a few hours fron me.
Congrats on your recent engagement!

- Wedding: September 2015 - Hotel Ballroom

My best friend as the Maid/Matron of Honor
My friend that I have known for four years and spend a lot of time with
The wife of the best man (this was a mistake…but that’s another story!)

- Wedding: September 2017 - Poppy Ridge Golf Course
Maid/Matron of Honor – Older sister. We’re 16 years apart but she’s always been a wonderful role model and once I reached my 20’s we became super close. I picked her bc I knew she would be excited to be involved and always give an honest opinion or helpful advice if needed.
Bridesmaid or Best Man #1 – Also a big sister. My surprise sister, her dad married my mom, that came along when I was 11. Chose her bc she’s an incredibly sweet and hilarious individual that is always fun to be with. She’s a little on the flighty side but all everyone needs to do is pick a dress of their choosing and show up on time. Even she can handle that! 🙂
Bridesmaid or Best Man #2 – A cousin of Fiance. We only met a couple months ago but instantly hit it off and she was genuinely happy to be asked. We’ve gotten closer since then. Plus she’s good at steering my future Mother-In-Law away from wedding topics and suggestions that I don’t particularly want to hear or need. :p
I asked my sisters over the phone and his cousin while we were hanging out at the bowling alley/bar. This was about 15 months in advance.

My Maid/Matron of Honor was my little sister. I had 3 BM’S. One was my cousin…we grew up together and the other two, my childhood friends.
I chose these 4 because they are my nearest and dearest. I would give the shirt off my back for them and I know they’d do the same for me.

My best friend who I’ve known for 15 years (since 6th grade) was my Maid of Honor. I’m not sure I ever even officially asked her to be honest!
My husband’s sister was my only bridesmaid. We aren’t super close but I really like her and she’s one of the sweetest people I know so I was thrilled to have her as a bridesmaid. I asked her shortly after we booked our venue.
This is us at the wedding:

Three bridesmaids (my Future Sister-In-Law and my two BFFs from college), a maid of honor (my sister), and a jr. bridesmaid (FI’s niece). I’ve known my college girlfriends for about 15 years now. Two of my bridesmaids (my sister and one of my BFFs) just assumed they were in the wedding. My other BFF feigned surprise when I asked her to be in the wedding (the week of the engagement) and my Future Sister-In-Law I asked with about a year to go before the wedding.
After I asked them I had cute dress cards made from etsy asking them to be a bridesmaid. They had all already confirmed so it was just a cute memento for them.

We did siblings only. Bridesmaid or Best Man were my two sisters. DH’s brother and my brother were groomsmen. That way we didn’t have to pick any friends.

My only bridesmaid was a friend from school, we’d known each other for 11 years. She was my best friend.
I asked her the week I got engaged which in retrospect was too early and I asked her over the internet/facebook.
I almost asked two others which I then regretted not asking but I initially couldn’t trust that their health would have been good enough to attend the wedding.
We asked our brothers (DH’s two and my one) to be our ushers with additional responsibilities such as handing out bubbles, taking extra photos of evening guests, keeping an eye on eldery/young relatives and reading in our service.
Darling Husband asked his best female friend from University to be his best (wo)man, they had known each other nearly 10 years

My maid of honour is my best friend from uni, we have known each other for 7 years. I was also her Maid/Matron of Honor in Feb
I have 3 bridesmaids: one is my closest friend from school, I have known her for 13 years. Another friend from school who I have also been friends with for the same amount of time but we have grown closer since high school finished. We live super close to each other so we’re always having wine nights! My 3rd bridesmaid is a girl I work with, I’ve only known her 2 years but we got really close and she always makes me laugh.
We decided on 4 each for the wedding party as Fiance has his 3 brothers as groomsmen plus his best friend for the best man. I don’t have any sisters, so it’s all friends for me.

I have 7:
Maid/Matron of Honor is my SIL, she married my brother 2 years ago and they’ve been togther since middle school.
Then I have my Future Sister-In-Law, my two betsies, and three good friends I’ve met through being a hair stylist.
Working in the beauty insudtry I have a lot of good female friends and I really value them. It’s like a sisterhood. I had a hard time picking! I’m including some of them in other ways, because I can’t imagine not having them around on my wedding day. I would have had 12 if I had asked everyone I wanted. LOL
I did bridesmaids proposals at Christmas since I got engaged on December 5th. I made them all Christmas themed gift bags with mini champagne bottles and “will you be my bridesmaids?” cards. I asked about 10 months before my wedding.

I have 4
Man of Honor- my twin brother ❤️ He’s been by my side for everything else so I couldn’t imagine him not standing right next to me for this.
Maid of Honor- my best friend from my senior year of high school we’ve known each other for 5 years
Bridesmaid 1- my FBIL’s fiancé she and I got close recently and it just seemed right for her. ( probably caused some drama not asking my other Future Sister-In-Law to be a bridesmaid….we barely know each other and she’s 11 older so for me it would be weird asking)
Bridesmaid 2- my older brothers fiancée

Our kids are our wedding party. We have 5 between the 2 of us. 4 girls and 1 boy. His son (who is 8) will be his best man 😊 And the girls (he has 2, I have 2) will be on my side. My Maid/Matron of Honor will be my 20 year old daughter and the other girls will be bridesmaids/flower girl. They range in age from 14 to 6
