Thumbtack is a site to find vendors.  You fill out a short form about what service you need and wait for vendors to contact you.  Googling “wedding photographer Houston” was getting me no where because it was only pulling up photographers who expect to work for several hours and charge $1000+ and that didn’t fit our needs (or our budget!).  I put on Thumbtack that I needed just a few hours of photography for the wedding and my budget is $500.  Within an hour about six or seven photographers had already emailed me.

crazy4disney:  They did a great job.  We had a small wedding so I did a small cake and some cupcakes.  Our cake was pineapple with cream cheese filling and buttercream frosting and our cupcakes were a mix of all the flavors they have.  Pink champagne cupcakes are my favorite of Jula’s but the cake was delicious too. Here’s a pic:

BrynneF:  So sorry for the delay — I didn’t even see your reply! Thank you so much for reporting back — It looks adorable! Pink champagne is the flavor we most want to try. I’ve been emailing her back and forth and she seems awesome! We’re actually planning on stopping in there tomorrow and picking up some cake balls to take to my folks’ tomorrow night for a little get-together. Can’t wait to try her stuff!

Our wedding will be in Galveston, so most of the vendors we have so far are either there or in our general area (Pearland/Friendswood/Clear Lake/League City).

Venue: The Elissa/Texas Seaport Museum, Galveston — we’re just beyond excited about this

Photographer: Leah Ashworth of Ashworth Imagery — She is actually from West Houston. I found her via wedding.com, and am SO glad. I love her work, her fees are so reasonable, and she is just such a neat person. She can’t wait to shoot a wedding at that location, and we can’t wait to have her capture our day!

Photo booth: Fun Fab Photo Booths (Found through Thumbtack)

Officiant: Joy Daley (Found through Thumbtack)

Catering is the one I *really* want to nail down because that’s the biggest chunk of the budget, but I am overwhelmed with the pricing structures and offerings and extra fees and trying to sort all that out… and that’s from the precious few who have even gotten back to me. =/

I’m using Enchanted Vizions Rentals and Decor for my linens, centerpieces, flowers, draping and lounge furniture.

They are pretty much your one stop shop. They have a beautiful collections of candelabras and ostrich feather pieces. I’m so over the top.

I’m using a community center and having the entire room draped with uplighting. Saved me a ton of money and I’m super excited.

Ya’ll should look them up!
