SoonToBMrs.C:  I mean if you want, you can have him use his card tied to the joint account, so that it’s like he paid for it.

SoonToBMrs.C:  Lol, make the process of buying your wedding rings a “together” one, like we did. We had heaps of fun choosing together and none of us were disappointed ๐Ÿ™‚

    SoonToBMrs.C:  No I don’t think you’re being ridiculous.

My husband bought my wedding band and I bought his. We did things traditionally as we did not live together or combine finances before marriage.

If I’d bought it or contributed toward my own wedding band, my personal opinion would have been that it would have felt like a let down, like a right hand ring.

SoonToBMrs.C:  Swear to god, I don’t even remember.* We were combining finances anyway so it didn’t matter one bit who paid for it. What difference would it be if he paid for the ring and I paid for groceries, or if I paid for the ring and he paid for groceries? No difference at all.

    * It was almost 20 years ago, so that’s also why I don’t remember.

SoonToBMrs.C:  we bought the band’s together. Really at this point it’s our money, so where it comes from is irrelevant.

We picked them out together and planned on paying for them together – but our jeweler is a family member and he ended up giving them to us as our wedding gift.

SoonToBMrs.C:  We picked out our wedding bands together, and paid for them using the joint wedding savings we had.  So we both paid for both of our rings.

SoonToBMrs.C:  Turhtfully, I find this a very odd thing to be adamant about, but that’s just me. My husband designed and paid for my engagement ring which was considerably more expensive than either of our wedding bands. I wanted to have part in the process too and we agreed that he would pay for the one ring and I would pay for the bands. As PP have said, eventually it’s both of our money anyways, but why should the guy have all the fun picking out rings that we wear every day for the rest of our lives?

LonnyLee:  Same here. We didn’t combine most of our finances pre-marriage, but we did have a joint “wedding fund” account that we use d to pay for the wedding bands (which we picked out and purchased together).
