    I did!

He did, and I love it!

He did, but I wasn't crazy about it!

    I gave him suggestions!

Someone else (IE mom, sister, MOH, etc.) gave him ideas!

Disappointed. I have been looking forward to ring shopping with my partner for years, his brothers have taken their wives and so have his friends. I just thought that this was the norm just to make sure it was the perfect ring and to look at all the cuts and designs. I don’t really have any jewelry so looking on the internet just isn’t the same as seeing it in the flesh so to speak. I know he has been planning on proposing for a little while now so it wouldn’t be a shock surprise proposal which is why I thought we would go ring shopping eventually.

I just found out that my partner has had a ring made for me, we have NEVER looked at jewelry before and I know he has asked my mum who I have also never been jewelry shopping with. We did however look in a few windows in some lovely shops whilst shopping in London last year but she was picking out everything opposite to what I liked.

I know I should be excited but I just feel a little deflated that I am missing out. I have had my heart set on an emerald cut but I know they are not as popular as a princess or a round and now I wont get the chance to tell him. I know that he would put a lot of effort into creating a ring for me so I do feel a little guilty about posting this and if I don’t like it I wouldn’t have the heart to tell him.

Has anyone ever had this happen? I guess I just want to justify why I am feeling a little down about the ring when I have been looking forward to the experience for such a long time.

We went and chose a new setting together; the center stone was a family heirloom but Future Mother-In-Law wanted to keep the setting since it is a ring she wears all the time; she put a new stone in (not a diamond and it suits the ring much better, actually) and we re-set the diamond.

He did, with the only input from me being that I prefer princess cut, and I love it!

I choose mine. My BF said I don’t know jewelry and he didn’t want to go ring shopping together. So I ended up picking out a Laurie Sarah ring that I wanted modifications to. I gave her the information what I what done and handed her over to my BF. He handled the rest of it. He bought and has the ring, I only saw very briefly a picture of the finished ring. Now I am just waiting for him to propose. >sigh< lol.

We went to Kay Jewelers together and he let me pick out my engagement ring cuz we both agreed that since I have a non-traditional taste in jewelry that he wouldn’t be able to pick out something that would fit me as well on his own.

I am so happy with my black and white diamond e-ring. We also got a matching wedding band with white diamonds across it.

I am surprised at the results (more people picking it out themselves!) which makes me happy because when we were first looking I felt like we werent doing it “properly” .. but I need to look at that baby for the rest of my life! so I wanted a say! and we were going with a moissy/mira which took my imput & convincing as well! Well we got a mira moissy and designed the custom setting together . We did go ring shopping in person together so he could see what he liked and what he would pick out if it was just him – luckily we had the same taste in a ring – although I picked out the specifics that he likely would have overlooked  like prong style and exact mm width ..ect  – love it and cant WAIT to have it on my finger 🙂
