I’d say that “we” did, but really I chose it.  Fiance didn’t care too much when it was so it was up to me. 🙂

The venue! Lol. They did a mock schedule and put May 5th, and we said, why not? Lol. Then a week later I realized it was my uncles birthday!

My Fiance and I choose two different dates (a week apart), then went to the venue to see what was available.

We did. 9/10/11 Cheesy I know but we both loved it. We wanted to be married before the baby came in October so September was perfect. The downside was I only had 5 months to plan it…lol.

My school schedule. Ha.

My program finishes up the last week of August, and I’ll be in the Congo in October.  So with our venue’s availability – we were left with Labor Day weekend (hells no) or the 15th – and that was that.    😛

One of the venues we looked at did actually. Neither of us really cared to much, We were originally aiming for july 2012 since that was our anniversary, but to save a ton of money (im talking $60,000) They offered us a date in their off season Oct of 2012. We ended up changing our mind on the venue, but stuck with the date.

Ultimately we did, but the process looked something like this….

We work 4 on, 4 off and so do any work friends we might want to invite – so that immediately limited us to about 3/8ths of the weekends in the year.

Then we selected our wedding party, and asked about any unchangeable previous commitments to them, our parents, and grandparents.  That knocked out another 4 weekends or so.

We then started looking at venues asking about availability on the remaining weekends.

Found a couple that we loved, and decided on one that really would look its best in the summer.  It had availability on TWO summer weekends.  One at the beginning of July, and one at the end of August.

July had a better likelihood of flowers that I wanted to use being in season, and it was decided!

Easy peasy, right?!?

I wanted either right before summer (May) or right after the summer (September). Fiance proposed in October, so May would have been a crunch.  Then we got Save the Dates for 2 weddings in May, plus the date for my master’s graduation.  We asked our bridal party about their availability and it turns out one of them was already in a wedding Labor Day weekend.  So we picked Sept 8th, 15th, and super backup Sept 22nd, 29th.  I started calling venues in October and so many were already booked up for all weekends.  Our favorite still had Sept 8th available and we locked it in while another bride and groom were deciding between the 8th and 15th.  Suckass haha

My husband and I decided on the date!  He initially suggested a date that was a month from when we got engaged but for me that was not enough time to plan!  Especially not with both of us working full-time and two kids at home!  We decided on Thanksgiving weekend because we had a lot of Out of Town guests that wouldn’t have been able to take so much time off so close to Christmas!

We knew we wanted a Saturday in late June so we decided on either June 16th or June 30th (our vendors didn’t have June 23rd available). Ultimately we picked June 30th because one of my cousins, who is like a sister to me and who is baking our cake, would still be in school on the 16th and might not be able to make it. So June 30th it was.
