I went with my sister, who had come to visit me (No one else would have been close by to go with me). I definitely would have been overwhelmed with more people, but it was good to have her help me with pushy sales people, etc.

The first time, I went with just my mom because she’s the only opinion I REALLY need.  The second time, I brought my nieces (flower girls), mom, gram, sister, best friend and my FSIL’s.  The third time, I went with my mom and Future Sister-In-Law.

Even though I currently have two (yes, I said TWO) dresses, I am making an appoinment to go BY MYSELF because I need a clear head without anyone else’s opinions clouding the feelings I get.  For example, there was one dress that I completely fell in love with initially, but no one else liked it, so I disregarded it…now, I don’t feel completely satisfied with my TWO 🙂 decisions.

The way I see it, when I go shopping for a special occasion dress or a sundress or whatever, I don’t ask for other people’s opinions, so I would like to make the my wedding dress decision on my own as well.

I hope I can take on the sometimes pushy sales people by myself!

Smart!  Absolutely smart!  lol  I went with my mom, grandfathers wife (who is close familyl) and my Maid/Matron of Honor.  My mother was the worst one out of all of them!

There was a moment she actually got upset with me because I tried on a dress that she hated!  Don’t get me wrong, I looked like a chicken with feathers (just didn’t look right on me) and my Maid/Matron of Honor and I had fun looking at it, but she literally was yelling because we actually thought it looked semi-good!

Not to mention the opinions …. loooorrrrddddd, the opnions (and my mother is a VERY opinionated woman).  There was a moment that I hid in the dressing room with my consultant and told her “I’m not walking out until I find one I really like and then I’ll put myself thru the brutality”.  The consultant laughted, but was really great.

I do recommend taking ONE person with you, someone who you trust and will not tell you what you want to hear (but wont rip everything you pick out either).  Having one person will help, but maybe not a group.  I’m not sure how these ppl on Say Yes to the Dress do it!!

Take someone who is good at sneaking pictures!! (assuming the salon doesn’t let you take pictures).

I went shopping with two friends and my mom, by myself a few times, and with a my sister.  No one was as helpful as that picture!!!

And, later, one of my friends told me she didn’t really want to tell me what she thought (after I told her MANY times to just be honest!!!)

hahahah sorry I had posted the wrong thing.

MEANT to post I took my sister, mom, aunt, and niece.  They were all wonderful to me, and were helpful and not critical.  Those are the kind of people to bring along 🙂

First time ~ my mum and 3 BMs

Second time ~ my mum

The 2nd time was much better, more intimate and I was able to focus on me more, having too many people distracted me.
