Who did you take dress shopping and how many times did you go?
I have an AA gown that I’m interested in and we have an AA store recently opened in this area so I’m going to start there and only go elsewhere if I don’t find anything I like. Honestly, I’m inclined to go first with just my Fiance and I. I’ve shown him a lot of the dresses I like and he gives me feedback on them and he would give me an honest opinion of how it looks on me. My mom, two sisters and Maid/Matron of Honor all want to come too but I don’t want to take them the first time because I’m afraid I wouldn’t be able to form an opinion that was truly mine because they all have such strong opinions.
Is four people too many people to have with you at one time? I thought I’d go by myself or with my Fiance the first time and then take everyone else the second time when I get an idea of what everything looks like and what I like.

I don’t think 4 people is a problem. Yes, you can def take them a 2nd time.
I think I’m going with my Mom, Man of Honor + another friend. I don’t want my Fiance to see, know or have any idea about my dress. Yet, a huge part of me wants an “Ok” from him… but I want it to be a surprise more : )

@Cem0930: At first I had my mom and 2 bridesmaids..I couldnt hear myself think so I regretted it. The second time it was just my 2 bridesmaids..still again I wasnt feeling heard. Eventually I just took a friend (who was far removed from the wedding) to AA where I made my final decision. I would of been fine going alone as well, since I was able to make an absolute decision and wasnt influenced by anyone elses opinions.

@Cem0930: I took about 5 people and wish I didn’t. It was my mother, future mother in law, Sister (MOH) and 2 bridesmaids.
Too many opinions and they LOVED a dress that I hated and I kept thinking should i love this right now because it’s awful? I wound up saying i had to think about it… came back the following week with just my sister and found the dress of my dreams! Much easier to choose what you want instead of what everyone else likes with only a couple people there.

I first went with just my mom.
I went later on by myself and found My Dress.
Then I took my mom and MOH/cousin back to see it and confirm that it was in fact, the dress.
When my dress came in I took mom, Maid/Matron of Honor and my grandma. (That experience was epic fail but only because the dress was totally wrong.)
It was so nice just having it be a small group, and I also really enjoyed shopping by myself. Mom bought the dress and I do care what others think, but at the end of the day this is my dress that I’m wearing… my opinion was the only one that should’ve mattered in the end. 🙂

I took my Mom and grandmother. Four people wouldn’t have worked for me since my bridal salon was so cramped.

The first time I went with my best friend and her mom. She’s also engaged so we were kinda shopping together. I purchased a dress that I liked but she LOVED on me.
Long story short, I went a second time BY MYSELF and purchased a second gown in the trumpet style I preferred.
I felt a little strange trying my dress on alone, but it was such a relief when i put it on and knew it was the one not to have anyone saying “It’s really pretty but I think it needs to be more poofy”.
Friends mean well but sometimes listening to opinions other than your own can confuse you and take you farther away from the dress you really want to be married in.

I went with my mom, my sister and my aunt (who was buying my dress). It was just the right amount.
You will also get many other (welcome or unwelcome) opinions from people who are there with other brides.

I went with the people that opinions mattered the most. My Mom, my Maid/Matron of Honor, and one of my BM’s.

the very first time i went was just with my sister, i was not seriously considering buying anything at this point, it was more of a find a style that i like and that’s about it. when i was serious about buying a dress, i took my sister, 2 bridesmaids and my mom (so 4 in total). it was fine and i didn’t have any issues. my Future Mother-In-Law and step-grandma wanted to come also but i couldn’t handle more people, they will come for my first fitting

- Wedding: November 2011 - Florida Aquarium
My best friend (and MOH) flew across the country to go with me. It was just the two of us, and it was perfect.
