Our caterer made caramel pecan pie and lemon meringue pie and a friend made a lot of delicious biscuits. We served all of this along with our wedding cake and it was a hit!

longdistancelove :  All weddings I’ve attended served the wedding cake as the only dessert. I have been to only one wedding where an ice cream (covered with a hard chocolate shell) was served plated  in addition to the wedding cake.

We’re doing donuts from the best donut shop in town. Doing wedding cake flavor, cinnamon sugar, and a seasonal one since our wedding is in October — something pumpkin or apple I’m sure. The bakery said little donuts cost the same as their regular (giant) donuts so a table full of big ‘ol donuts it is!

We just had the wedding Saturday. We had a ‘piescream station’ with locally grown and hand made from scratch cherry piettes (5″ individual pies) and local vanilla bean ice cream from a creamery down the street.

It was such a hit. People got to take pies togo at the end of the night since I over estimated how much pie to buy. What a delicious treat and totally better than traditional American cake.

We had individual chocolate mousse delivered to everyone for dessert. No cake-cutting, no awful cake-smashing in the face thing, we didn’t even take pictures of dessert. I’m totally glad we skipped it (and saved on the cost, too, I’m sure.)

Another cute thing I’ve seen recently are donut walls. People can grab them at their leisure, plus they’re a really cute photo backdrop.

longdistancelove :  I looooove cheesecake, so your dessert idea sounds absolutely amazing. We had ice cream macaroons at our wedding in a variety of flavours (no cake cutting or anything – not really our thing), and the guests absolutely loved it. I don’t really like cake that much so it was perfect for us.

For dessert, we had mangia cake scurro…Sicilian ice cream cake with fresh fruit.

In addition to our wedding cake, we also had a late night dessert station which included even more cakes…including cheese cakes, pies and assorted pastries.

in addition to cake, we had a venetian table with lots of mini desserts: cheese cake balls, macaroons, dessert shooters (in varius flavors), i think there were a few other things too.

We did a small funfetti cake and a bunch of mini cookies, brownies, cupcakes, whoopie pies, lemon squares etc from our favorite bakery.  These ideas all sound amazing!
