For a little background, I’m having a very small ceremony (just immediate family and a hanful of our very b=closest friends) and then a larger reception after that many people will be invited to. I’m getting ready to order save the dates but I don’t know who to send them to. Obviously they’ll go out to the anyone invited to our ceremony, but do I send them to people who will only be invited to the reception?
Any advice would be a huge help!

Welcome! Save the Dates are traditionally sent to make out of town guests aware of the date way earlier than the invitation. However, if you are talking about sending save the dates for just the reception, your save the date needs to say that. My question is do you need to send save the dates out at all? Today they’ve become a larger part of the stationary and are sent out to a lot more than out of town guests. If you don’t have a lot of out of town guests, you might be able to skip them altogether and spend that money on something else!
Don’t send a save the date to a guest who you are on the fence about inviting. Although informal, a save the date is an implied invitation. So you wouldn’t want someone to get a save the date, but then never get invited to the wedding.
