I think it’s your decision.  I’ve seen the readers at catholic ceremonies have a corsage/bout, since they’re usually close with the couple.  We gave bouts/corsages to our parents, my grandparents, godparents and brother (wasn’t in wedding party), officiant and my friend who played the ceremony music.  Think it also depends on your budget…

My first wedding (very formal… and also 30 Years ago) the “personal” flowers went like this…

Bride = Bouquet

Maid/Matron of Honor & Bridesmaids = Bouquets (similar if not all the same)

Groom & Best Man = Boutonnieres (similar if not the same)

Groomsmen / Ushers = Boutonnieres (similar if not the same)

Ring Bearer / Flower Girl = minature versions of what the Adult Bridal Party wore

Fathers (B&G) = Boutonniere

Mothers (B&G) = Corsages (their outfits should be taken into consideration, so they should be personally consulted on what they would like etc).  In my family, the Mothers all got Orchids… truly gorgeous (albeit expensive)

Special Guests = Great Grand Parents / God Parents etc… Boutonnieres or Corsages as required… the main one here is to make sure none of the “special ladies” are missed

Readers / Sololists / and anyone that has a “special job” on the Wedding Day (ie Niece say who circulates with the Guest Book) = Flowers are NOT REQUIRED, but it is a nice gesture, see the guidelines for Special Guests Above

Other Expenses from the Florist

Ceremony Flowers – Alter Flowers – Pew Bows – Bride’s White Aisle Runner – Reception Flowers – Cake Table Flowers – Dinner Table Flowers – and Candles for Centrepieces – “Bouquet Toss” (either smaller bouquet to throw or one to keep for the Bride as a souvenier… I tossed the real one and kept a silk one made to match)

Going Away Corsage & Boutonniere for Bride & Groom (if you are doing “a Formal Exit” from the Wedding and onto your Honeymoon)

Just so you know, Flowers do add up… and can become a significant part of your Wedding Budget

And in a Traditional Wedding, they are an expense that the Groom covers
