SO and I are on completely different sleep patterns. He likes to go to bed early and get up early. I like to go to bed late and get up late. The time I need to be to work varies by day so some days I do go to bed with him, which is usually around 10:30. Other days I stay up late.
Tomorrow I do not have to work so SO is in bed, even though he is laid off at the moment so he doesn’t need to be in bed. I am still just typing away. I just like to stay up. It gets even worse when he goes back to work in about March or April and he has to be up at 3 or 4 am. Some days he’s so tired he goes to bed at 9.
What is your pattern? Always together, always at separate times or it varies?

I said sometimes. For the most part we go to bed at the same time but there are a lot of times where I’ll fall asleep on the couch while he’s still up doing something and then he’ll wake me up to go to bed with him. Or if I have early class the next day I’ll go to bed before him… he needs a lot less sleep than I do. If I have to be up before him, he usually stays in bed when I get up, but if he has to be up before me, I usually get up with him. I like getting an earlier start on the day and it’s a lot easier for me to get up if he’s getting up too.

We sometimes go to bed at the same time, but not too often. My husband works afternoons/graveyards fairly frequently, so often he’s not even home when I got to bed. Also, he works 4 on, 4 off, so he often is on days off when I have to work.

on the weekends… we usually go 2 bed 2gether… but during the weekdays my FH has to wake up super early so he is always knocked out by 10pm and up by 5am while i dont sleep until about 12am and up by 7am

We try to make it a point to go together at the same time, but if we don’t he always goes to bed before me. However, my hubby doesn’t sleep at home everyday because of his job, so on the days when he sleeps at work I guess you could say I go to bed first. 😉

Anyone sometimes feel guilty if you stay up after him? I think I feel bad because that is really our time to snuggle up and talk without any other distractions and I like that time but often I am not tired and I enjoy having that quite time to myself.

We always go to bed together, but Darling Husband always falls asleep first. I will lay in bed and read, listen to my iPod or watch a movie. He’s out by 10, I don’t go to sleep until 12 or later.

Darling Husband likes to go to bed fairly early since he has to wake up at 6 for work. I get to sleep in a little later so I don’t get to bed until around 1AM each night. On weekends we go to sleep at the same time.

I don’t usually stay up later than him, but I do sometimes feel bad going to bed as soon as he walks in the door. He’ll get home at 11 on an afternoon shift day (my latest bedtime, but he’s not nearly tired) and feel like he wants to visit for a few minutes, so sometimes I’ll doze on the couch during the news just to be near him for a bit.

@MsBrooklynA: In a way I feel guilty, but when he’s ready for bed it’s because he’s really ready…like he’ll be snoring in 2 minutes or less! lol If I go to bed and I’m not quite tired yet it actually takes me a lot longer to fall asleep, so that’s when I’ll just stay up for a bit before I go. So, when I want to do any chit chatting I try to get it done when it’s not too close to bedtime, otherwise I’ll be talking to myself as his eyes google around in his head. How I wish I could sleep so easily! haha

I normally go up to bed first and then he follows after either 1 min or 20 mins later

normally what happens is i fall asleep on the couch and then when he’s ready for bed he wakes me up and we both go to bed. I have to get up at 5am and lately with the cold weather as soon as i sit down … i’m out cold. He doesn’t have to get up till 7:30.

We almost always go to bed at the same time, which is about 10:30pm. I work early (6:30-7:00am) and his new job starts at 6:30, also, so luckily we will have the same bed time. Thank goodness! When i used to wait tables, i used to come to bed MUCH later than him. It just felt weird and disconnected. But we both have Saturdays and Sundays off working for this company, so there are no different schedules to mess with.

We got to bed at the same time almost every single night

We usually go together. Every once in a while someone won’t be tired yet and stay up a little later, but that’s pretty rare.
