My fiance just proposed with a loose diamond and a pair of diamond earrings to wear while I waited for my ring. We went to the jewelers the next day, picked out a ring that I never would have thought to try on unless he’d suggested it and we will have it a little over 2 weeks after the proposal. I thought I’d be more anxious to get the ring on my finger, but I’m just enjoying being engaged so much that the ring will just be icing on the cake.

sophielle: congrats on your engagement!
I had a ringless proposal because I proposed to him. I don’t feel any less engaged without a ring and we get to have a blast looking at all the sparkly things together!

I was glad my husband proposed without a ring. I really enjoyed going ring shopping with him and it wouldn’t have been the same doing it before a proposal – especially as I had no idea he was going to propose in the first place.
HB is quite adamant on this – so many girls have their idea of a dream, often ostentatious ring, which men are then supposed to live up to. It’s a lot of pressure, and all in all a bit of a dick-measuring contest on both sides (“Look! Aren’t I Awesome For Picking the Right Ring Even Though I’m a Guy!”/”Look What A Big Ring My Fiance Bought With His Super Psychic Powers!”)

My hubby proposed without a ring. I wore a ring his dad gave him when he was 12 because it fit my finger. He designed my eventual Engagement Ring and wedding bands himself, without any input from me (except he knew I liked yellow-gold), which he gave me later. It was beyond my wildest dreams. Like he jokes, at least if something goes wrong and I need to buy a house and car, I just need to sell my ring.

My fiance proposed to me the Saturday after our one-year anniversary. He gave me a Pandora engagement charm to wear on the bracelet he’d given me for Valentine’s Day that year, because he wanted us to pick out a ring together and be able to save up for it. We went looking at rings together the day after he proposed…and to my suprise, he gave me the perfect ring (at the spot where we had first kissed) just a week later! This way he was able to know what I wanted…although he still suprised me by picking a ring with sapphires in the band, which was just perfect because blue is my favorite color!

sophielle: well I had a proposal with the ring but couldn’t wear it for a week until it was resized, so I think there are multiple ways to be ringless and engaged!
