@echolove:  I think I already love this post!  What a view too!

My first time I got married it cost $40 for the license and $40 for lunch for 4 so $80 total.  No dress, no rings, nada.  Although I don’t call that a wedding, just getting married.

Second wedding was $3,300 with the works – dress, suit, rings, cake, photographer, flowers and dinner for 4.

@echolove:  technically what we paid?

well, we had the ceremony at town hall, the mayor was our officiant, and his set fee was $100.

i paid $130 for my dress, but my Mom gave me back the $ for it as a gift. Same with hair (I think that was something like $40). She’s the best.

Did my own nails and makeup.

My shoes were $8.

He wanted to wear khakis, a polo, and sneakers. Already had the sneakers so I think the rest of the outfit came out to about $50, maybe even less.

Marriage license was $28, and $5 each for additional copies Once it became a certificate. I think we got 3 of those.

My ring was the biggest expense at $480. He didn’t want a ring so that was a good amount of savings on its own.

We spent our wedding night at a nice hotel, I don’t know how much he paid for that.

Honeymoon plans were nixed, so that’s not costing us anything.

Our reception is in June and our parents are paying for that. I have kind of an estimate on what that’s going to be but not an exact amount yet, it’s not really my business. We’re just so grateful to them. They’re wonderful.

@echolove:  I think your food sounds awesome!  Did you price it out to make sure?  Any food people to tip? Clean up?

$94 bucks for a marriage license.  Voila!  Cheapest wedding possible in Florida.  (You can reduce it to $65 if you take premarital counseling.)

While mine isn’t the cheapest wedding, we’re having 200 guests (full out dinner, dj, photog, gorgeous dress, favors, wine/beer, etc.) for $5k. I’m proud of that 🙂

Low budget weddings are really not that difficult as long as you know how to prioritize. I see a lot of posts from sad bees on a budget. Seriously, you don’t need a carbon copy of what you saw in a bridal magazine in order to have a great wedding. You can’t afford something? Don’t be upset. Ask yourself if you really need it in the first place. Say “what purpose does this serve in the grand scheme of things?” If your answer is “nothing”, erase it from your mind. You only need 2 outcomes at a wedding: 1) to be married to the love of your life and 2) for your guests to be happy they came. That’s it!
