I love ellipticals! I think, as other posters have mentioned, you need to set a goal for yourself for it to be worth it. Back when I lived with my parents, they had a treadmill, and I told myself that I had to keep moving on it through every episode of TV that I taped to watch, which was usually three shows a week. Now I’d up it, but then I was out of shape!
We actually have an exercise room in our apt, but I don’t get up there as much as I should because it’s on the 39th floor and I’m terrified of elevators. Seriously, I flip out every time one shudders. I don’t know why, but I can get on them for short trips (we live on the 7th floor) but going up (and down) 39 floors just freaks me out.

I would recomend a treadmill because it will allow you to build up your fitness and then maybe run outside which is heaps more enjoyable.

make sure you know and like the EXACT machine you’re buying. I bought an exercise bike and didn’t realize how loud it was. I hate it, never use it. Hang laundry on it to dry.

I don’t know if this “counts” but I have an exercise bike (I have some ankle issues so ellipticals and treadmills aren’t nice to me…lol) and I love it

We had an elliptical in our old apartment and though I used it every once in a while it was NOT worth it! Unless you spend a good bit of money (around $400-500 at least) the elliptical will be wobbly and will not be a fun work out!! I would recommend a treadmill if you are going to get an exercise machine for in the home
