I was just wondering who is planning on doing their own hair or makeup or both for their wedding day.
And for those Bees whose wedding day has already passed and did do their own hair or makeup or both…do you regret it?

I did my own makeup and was super nervous about it. I’m really don’t know any tricks and don’t do anything fancy but got a lot of compliments. I’m glad I did, it helped me relax and get my mind off of what was going on. I had a friend of mine do my hair and also got a ton of compliments for it.

@missjewels: I will probably so my own makeup because I’m havng a destination wedding and there wont be any makeup artists I could get for it (I wouldnt trust the people in the beauty salon there cause I would probably dislike what they would do) A bridesmaid will be doing my hair at the destination so I’m thankful for that 🙂

I am in no way qualified to do my own hair/makeup. Even for semi-formal events in college, I would have a friend do my hair/makeup for me. So, on my wedding day, I will be gladly paying someone else to do it.

@missjewels: I did my own hair and makeup and don’t regret it at all. I’ve had both my hair & makeup done in the past (usually when I’ve been a bridesmaid), and I’ve never been happy with it. I just don’t look like myself.
I was able to make myself up exactly as I wanted to, and I was pleased with the result. I like a natural & simple look, though, which is what I gave myself.
ETA: I have no special skills in either of these areas — I just put on my everyday makeup, just heavier, and I bought a do-it-yourself bun kit. I looked good! 🙂

I’m doing my own make-up. This is just because I hate people touching my face, I’m not good at make-up or anything. I am getting my hair done though. It’d actually cost me more to puchase all the things I’d need to do my own hair (I don’t even own a brush).

I did my own hair and makeup. At the time I had short hair (a mohawk) and I curled it. I breifly toyed with the idea of becoming a MAU so I felt very comfortable doing my own make up as well. Like @Birdee106: said, I am glad I did my own because it did help me relax.

I’m not doing my own since a friend is doing it, but I did do my friend’s hair and makeup for her July wedding – and I have ZERO hair training and just really love makeup + Sephora 😉
For hair, I found Kate @ The Small Thing’s blog to be SO helpful! Really amazing tutorials. http://www.thesmallthingsblog.com/

My sister has done my hair and make-up for every special occasion I have been to, I figure why start paying someone to do it now? I’m very simple and don’t plan on doing anything she can’t handle so I’m putting the extra money towards my dress 🙂

- Wedding: April 2013 - Rhode Island
Once I saw how I looked with airbrushed makeup, I knew I wouldn’t have it any other way! And I can’t do my own hair to save my life.

I am doing my own hair because it is simple — I’ll leave it down and just put in some product to reduce frizz and make sure my bangs don’t go wonky. I am definitely hiring someone for my makeup though, as my skills are limited and terrible at best 😉

@missjewels: I may end up doing my own.
I am in the fashion industry and know people that do beautiful makeup (as they are profesionals) but even with discounts they can still be pricey and I trust myself with my own hair..I think I need to practice makeup since I don’t wear it on a daily basis.

I did my own makeup and when I had a second day photoshoot I did my own hair and makeup. I don’t regret it at all. Actually, my only regret is my hair at my at home reception, I hated it and liked it way better when I did it myself.

Doing my own hair and make-up. Bought a bun dome for $10 (alas, I lack the hair needed to use the bun donut kits…isn’t that sad? :D). I’ll be securing it to the back of my head with bobby pins on the big day, and voila.
I’m doing my own make-up too. I’ve picked up some tips and tricks for the ol’ smoky eyes over the years. Mostly…I’m just happy I’m saving so much money by not having it professionally done!
Some of my guests will be spending more money getting made-up than I will! 😀
