I am! Seriously, it makes me laugh every time DH starts a project….because I end up fininshing it. Last night he had to replace the shower head in our master bath. Simple enough, right? Here he is:
Yes, he’s reading the directions!! Lol!
I should add that I was a single mom for 5 years, so I was forced to figure a lot of stuff out myself. But, seriously, in our house…..I’m the handyman!

I don’t think either of us are overly handy but we’ve also yet to really have a reason to be. We’ve only lived in rentals so if somethings broken, we call maintenance. We pay an exorbitant amount of rent so you better believe we’re getting our monies worth!
FWIW, I totally thought your husband was taking a shit. lol

I didn’t think about this pic looking like that, but it sure does! Don’t tell him I posted this…lol!

@soon2bS: Haha, that pic is too cute! My dad is a contractor, so growing up I was always helping him with random projects… So I am definitely more handy! In DH’s home, his mom was the handy one & his dad did all the cooking. So thankfully he doesn’t find it emasculating when I have to take the lead on projects 🙂 however, since we bought a house he has learned a lot/starTed doing more!

I love this pic! Sometimes I WISH FI would just read the directions.. haha.
That having been said… he is DEFINITELY the handier one. This comes from experience, though, I think. I love your comment about being a single mom! I remember my mom trying to figure things out once she left my dad.

My dad is in construction, FI’s dad is an academic. I was raised to fix things and FI was raised to…read, write and be a genius.
So ya, I do all the fixin’ in our house. He always tries to help though

FH is and I’m so thankful. It’s amazing – there was a small leak in the roof that I wouldn’t have even noticed, and he got right into the roof and patched it within an hour of realizing it was there. He’s an electrician and HVAC tech and has worked on preventative maintenance in commercial high-rises for ten years, so our house is probably easy compared to work!

FI is incredibly handy! I am not, but I don’t mind helping him with projects.

My husband is definitely the handyman. I help do the planning or figuring things out, but he’s the hands on guy.

We’re both really handy! Ever since I was a kid, I had to help my dad fix everything so I learned a lot! FI & I redid our whole house together, so I feel like I can do most home repair things. FI just won’t let me near anything electrical.. even though I took a class on wiring & stuff. But FI’s better at it anyway 🙂

FI, for real. He can do almost anything!! He set up our bed frame, fixed the lawnmower, made swingarm babygates, made frikkin log benches around our bonfire in the backyard, sawed the wood for our bunny condo.. the list goes on just can’t think of it!! I sit back and watch… or do the easy stuff like “hold this”.

DH has a builder’s license, and I’ve got natural abilities, so we’re pretty evenly matched as far as who’s handier. There are some things that he likes to do more than I do, and he’s defintely more of a detailed planner. I’ll tell him exactly what I want, already knowing it will work, and he’ll go in the office and draw up detailed plans. I’m more willing to jump in and get things done.

I’m handier when it comes to power tools and things, but in terms of muscle, FI has me beat. He also loves problem solving, so when it comes to assembling furniture with pre-drilled holes and such, he puts everything together SO fast. However, if stuff needs to be drilled, repainted, or fine moter skills are needed (like reconnecting the itty bitty cables to his speakers, teeny tiny screws, etc), then my spider-like fingers are in charge.

H fixed the plumbing one day and the next day – an explosion of Niagara Falls in the master bathroom. Awesome…

I would say I am, my father is/was Mr Fix it… on everything. So I learned from him. My DH and his father are rather clueless on things…
