I don’t know how much the BMs are spending but since we are all broke college students I’m going out on a limb and saying they chose dresses under 200. I bought them pearl necklaces.

My BMs bought their dresses and I gave them their accessories as part of their gifts for being in the wedding.

In the UK the bride coughs up for the bridesmaids. I’m paying £125 per dress, for 4 bridesmaids. I’m also buying all of their accessories (again which is pretty normal over here) They have stunning shoes that only cost £28 each! Hair pieces that only cost £12 each and are wearing their own necklaces (somehting delicate and silver or white gold). I’ll probably buy them clutches for the evening as well.

I am designing and making all my bridesmaids dresses for them as a gift- and they are all thrilled about it! It works out well because it knocks out the bridesmaid gift and they get a custom fitting dress to use for the rest of their lives =)  So technically I’m paying for them- but they won’t be expensive since it’s just the cost of material.

I am having a destination wedding and the BMs have to pay for the trip to the wedding, so I decided not to make them shoulder the extra expense of the dress and shoes.  I bought my 4 BMs dresses from Priscilla of Boston.  They were originally around $200, but I got a coupon online that brought them down to $125 each. (I thought that was pretty sweet!)  I am buying their shoes for about $40 each as well.   I will probably pay for their hair as well.  They can pick their own accessories.

Maid/Matron of Honor picked out her dress and we paid for it. Maid/Matron of Honor can choose her own accessories. I don’t care what color her shoes and jewelry are, and I told her that she is more than welcome to use what she already owns. She has great taste. I trust her. We are also paying for her hair and make-up, and overnight accomodations. The same can be said for the guys in the wedding party. We like to treat our attendants well. 🙂

I told them the color ( pink @ davids bridal) and they can get any style they want. I have 3 very different gals that are going to be standing next to me so I didnt want to TELL them what to buy its not in my nature. And accesories thats also up to them. Just like me I want them to look like themselves not barbies haha.

I paid for my girls’ dresses ($125-ish) as a gift (it’s definitely one they can wear again) and am most likely covering the accessories as well.  I’m asking them to cover shoes and hair/make-up.

I do acknowledge that it’s untraditional, but I figured they’d appreciate it more than a tote of goodies or jewelry that they’ll probably never actually use.

I didn’t have BMs, but the 5 times I’ve been a Bridesmaid or Best Man or Maid/Matron of Honor, the bride (or her family) paid for the dresses. 5 times out of 5. I know that’s unusual, but as a Bridesmaid or Best Man, I really appreciated it.

I have already told my Bridesmaid or Best Man that the dress will cost around $200 and so they have plenty of time to save. They are paying for their dresses and simple jewelry and shoes. Again, I am not going to go overboard and have been communicating my thoughts so they know about how much it will all cost.

I am paying for their hair and make-up to be done.

I will say a friend of mine was in a wedding on 6/25 and she came to me furious! Apparently the bride was supposed to give her money for the dress and didn’t. She also made her buy new shoes (she apparently didn’t like the first, cheaper, pair) and told her she had to pay for her own hair and make-up to be done (again not what was promised). In total she spent $600 to be a bridesmaid.

The girls are buying their own dresses and shoes (they are flip flops) and I made their accessories. With the exception of one bm, who is my cousin, and my mom’s Goddaughter, who doesn’t have a job… my mom paid for her dress.
