He picked it.  I sent him a few samples of things that I liked, but he picked it without me, he didn’t tell me he was looking, and he most certainly didn’t ask if I’d come along.  And I wouldn’t change one detail of that!

It is ultimately his choice, but he wanted some hints so we may go shopping at some point!  Also…you may want to add a poll!

    Poll! I love polls!

But yeah, the only time I wanted jewellery, I asked for something on a chain, i.e. a wee cute heart or something on a fine metal chain. He got me what looked like a bike chain. Oh dear.

And the poor dear was stressed about it, so when it broke and it was time to replace it, I gave him an item code number.

So yeah, I picked my ring! Goodness knows what I would have ended up with otherwise!

My tastes were very simple (round solitaire – pretty classic) and I told him that’s what I’d prefer, but I left the actual details up to him.

I picked my ring, he was happy with what I chose because he wanted me to love it and knows nothing about jewelry. Win-win.

I picked a couple.  One he didn’t really like so I told him I liked the other one.  He did pick the caret size for the center stone though bc that was based on his budget.

I knew exactly the one style I wanted. Not gonna lie – I would’ve been really disappointed with your run-of-the-mill modern ring that every woman seems to have now. Here’s mine πŸ™‚

Could he have found and chosen this one? Definitely not.

@hisprettygirl:  That’s beautiful! Will it stand alone, or will you wear a band with it?

I’m in the dropping hints phase. He’s often mentioned that he thought I would want a “big blinging diamond” for my ring but I’ve said no every time and have recently been printing out pictures of the rings I do want. I haven’t brought them up to his attention yet but… What I’ve been doing is taping the pictures of the rings with the prices and such and circling the important details. I tape them inside my journal (I like to write) and have a couple of times left the journal out open on that page “by mistake” or will open it in front of him to go to my “calendar” but I will be sure to stop on the page with the rings for a second before going to the right page.

I also put a couple of print outs in my tote bag. I carry the bag with me everywhere I go. It holds my journal, my song lyrics and drum tabs, it holds all my day to day paperwork. I’ve put the pics of the e-rings in there and when going to work (we work different shifts) I stuck a lighter in the bag so when he called to ask where a lighter was I directed him to my tote. Two days later the e-ring photos were gone, 2 days later and since that morning he’s been in a really good lovey dovey mood so hopefully it’s working πŸ™‚

I saw the one I wanted and showed him to see what he thought. He agreed it was perfect and bought it later, so I wouldn’t know. But then he told me! Hahaha.

I’m just having the one ring. In fact, what I have right now as the engagement ring is just the middle stone set in a solitare. Before the wedding, we’ll take it back to the antique jewelry store and have them design this ring. I found it on Lang Antiques’ website in SF, but am having it made locally in Sacramento, CA. They’re making the band a bit nicer, with some beautiful engravings/etchings (whatever it’s called!). So excited!

I would’ve liked other rings. I’ve seen friends’ rings, and I ooh and ahh over them, but this ring – it’s mine πŸ™‚

He had asked me what kind of ring I would like and I gave him 3 specifics: round solitaire, thick band, cathedral setting.

And he knocked it out of the park! LOL! We never went ring shopping together, he did it all on his own. I had no idea he was even ring shopping!
