Darling Husband and I were talking about Valentines day plans and I told him not to worry about gifts or plans because I didn’t need or want anything. I asked him if he was ok with that since Valentines day was mostly a “girly holiday” anyway and he looked at me like I was crazy. He thinks valentines day is just as much a boy holiday as a girl holiday. I pointed out to him that TV ads etc were mostly geered toward getting the girl a gift. Not saying that I agree with this because obviously Valentines day is a celebration of the couple but I personally feel the hoiday is geered toward women.
Am I crazy? (well don’t answer that, because frankly, that’s another thread interely)
Who do you think valentines day is really for?

It’s really for Hallmark and Sanders. They make a killing.

I think it’s definitely a holiday geared towards women. Although in our house it’s reversed. I really don’t care abou it but Darling Husband loves it. In fact I forgot all about it and made plans with my parents tonight only to have to cancel when Darling Husband reminded me it was Vday and he planned something for us.

It’s for the couple. Guys like getting cutesy stuff from their wives and girlfriends!

It’s for the people who sell flowers, chocolates, cards, and jewelry. And the restaurants with their V-day special menus. They make a killing when, in reality, a couple should be showing their love for each other year round, not just on February 14th.
I’m not a V-day hater but I just find it so arbitrary. DH and I really don’t do anything.

It’s a girl holiday!!
Darling Husband and I were just talking about this. I mean if it’s a man holiday it would be more like the superbowl. Instead, women get picnics, flowers, long walks and homemade dinners. Or maybe it’s just us? I definitely think it’s more about the woman in our relationship. I get Darling Husband a gift, but he goes out of his way for me.

I thought one of the options would be “children”. I think they get more excited about it than anyone else does (or should). 🙂
