My real “father” is MIA, and my Mom remarried twice since the dead-beat, so I can’t have either of them in on it.  I decided my “full” brother was a perfect fit for the role.

Even though we’re having an interfaith wedding, I plan to follow the Jewish tradition and have both of my parents walk me down the aisle.

I’m having both my parents walk me down.  I think having your mom walk you down the aisle is a great idea.  Of course, it doesn’t suggest you are not independent, I think it signifies the point where your family (ie. Mom) gives her blessing for you to merge into a new family (your FI’s).  If you’d like your Fiance to meet you 1/4 way, I think that’s nice too.  Do what’s meaningful for you, it’s your day and a reflection of your life.

Awh ur post made my heart sink, I am planning on have my papa walk me down the aisle also since I have never been close to my dad. But we just found out my papa is pretty sick and in case he doesn’t make it to my spring wedding next yr I have asked my brother to walk me. I think having your mom would be an awesome idea.

I lost my dad in high school. 🙁  All the daddy/daughter stuff always makes me cry.

I decided to walk solo most of the way up the aisle and have my maid of honor, my will be 14 year old daughter, walk me the rest of the way and give me away.  🙂

My dad walked me down the aisle.  He started crying before we even took the first step, and then I lost it too!  We have a sweet picture of the two of us right before we started walking, where you can tell we are both holding back the tears, and I am gripping onto my Dad’s index finger so hard while our arms are locked.  I love that picture so much.

Fiance and I walk down the aisle together. That’s the normal thing to do in the netherlands.

I am seriously thinking about going SOLO!

My Dad and I had a falling out 2 years ago and he refuses to speak to me. My mom and I are more like sisters since we grew up together.

I will be 33 when I walk down the isle and am independent. I want to give myself to my man. I’m not a piece of property. I just don’t have anyone in my life who has always been there.

I told some friends about going solo and didn’t have good feed back about it. But I’ve always taken my own path and it always works for me.

Both of my parents have passed. My big brother will be walking me down the isle then my Fiance will meet us half way and walk me the rest of the way.

My father is walking me down the aisle.  My friend had her older brother walk her down and it was so sweet.  He cried the whole time.  Adorable.

I’m not sure what I’m doing yet.  My father died when I was 11.  I was planning on asking my Grandfather, but he unexpectedly died the day after our engagemnet party.  My uncle who is my fathers brother could, but he is not really the center of attention type (farmer) and I don’t want to take anything away from his daughter who will be getting married not long after.  My mother has shown interest, but i think i’m leaning towards going solo.

Also for the father/daughter dance I’m going to ask my Future Father-In-Law.  I think it will be a nice symbol of joining the family.

I love my dad and we are really close but I want both my father and my son, age 12, to walk me. Both me and my Fiance want him at the altar with us. not sure how the preist will feel about it.
