I’m walking with Fiance. I’m a 30 yr old encore, and I’ve been living on my own since I was 18.  I’m VERY close with my family, but I’m also very independent….and having my dad “give me away” just seems antiquated to me. Fiance and I want to walk together as equals.

I’m walking with my Dad. Our ceremony makes it clear though that it’s not about ‘giving away the bride’ with a section that discusses all our families joining that has all of the parents stand up to be recognized.

Haha I just tried to vote for a good few minutes and it wouldn’t let me! I was so frustrated… until I realized I wasn’t logged in… oops 😛

Anyway, Fiance and I are each being escorted by both our parents. We’re both close to our families and want them all to be a part of the ceremony. I first thought of this when Monica and Chandler got married on friends (yes, I was a teenager, but for some reason it stuck!) and think it’s perfect for us. What do you think… is that too weird?

@Zacharysmom07:  My daughter will be walking me as well!  Well halfway.  My dad passed away in highschool so I will walk halfway by myself and my daughter will walk me the rest of the way.

@retroindigo: My dad passed along time ago, and my brother (about ten yrs older) will be walking me down the isle.  Found it appropriate since he def is the protective older brother, and my FH called him up about the proposal the week before, and my brother was sincerely honored he did that…. def gave my FH some points in big bro’s book!

Both of my parents.  They’re my best friends and are so incredibly supportive.  I wouldn’t be able to pick just one to walk me down the aisle, so they both will… I just hope all three of us can fit!

I wanted both my parents to walk me down. I don’t like the idea of the “father giving the daughter away” and plus both my parents raised me, so I wanted to spend that moment with both of them 🙂

My grandfather.  He and my grandmother have raised me since I was 2 and I consider them my parents.  He is so excited to walk me down the aisle!  I know he is looking forward to the big day, even if he does keep suggesting we use the money towards a house and elope.  haha.

My family is crazy! The only person I want to be at my actual wedding is my older sister. She basically raised me and will be walking me down the aisle. We are doing destination and my FH and I are bringing her with us so she can walk me down the aisle.

My father held my one arm with the bouquet held by the other arm.  My mother carried my train.  And my brother walked beside my mother behind me.
