I’m trying to figure out who to ask to be our MC. At first we were going to have our DJ and then realized it doesn’t really make sense, as he’ll be focusing on the music and we don’t really want a voice just coming out of nowhere over the speakers. Would rather it be a bit more personal.
Who did you pick to be your MC? Was it someone in your wedding party? I have a friend I was thinking of asking, but don’t want her then to feel like our wedding is a “job” and possibly stressful. This is also a friend who isn’t a bridesmaid (I only have 2 girls) and I don’t know if she’d feel like I’m giving her a consolation prize or something?
Please let me know who you chose to be your MC, and how it worked out if your wedding already took place. Thanks!

My friend got ordained just so she could be our officiant–and then she offered to be our emcee–so I am SUPER lucky!! I’m not having a DJ, so I was a little stressed about it….Not anymore! YAY!

@luvdmb36: Oh that’s awesome! I’m laughing at the idea of our officiant (an older man, not really connected to us at all) being our MC!

We were really sad when we found out that our DJ doesn’t do that, so I think we are going to ask a friend of mine, who is also doing a lot with the music at the ceremony. I think he will enjoy it. If he says no? then I dunno… :-/

Our DJ was our MoC too. I thought it went well.

@dani ddha: How did that work out for you? I am worried that it seems a bit strange to have someone we don’t really know introducing people for speeches and all that, while also keeping track of the music. Not sure if it’s a recipe for disaster?
Has anyone ever been asked to be an MC? Do you see it as something more fun, or an imposition? I want to ask my friend but don’t want it to seem like “here, you get the crappy job”.

We didn’t have one. Neither of us wanted to give one of our friends a “job” at our wedding, and we’re not big on lots of interludes with jokes like we’d seen at other weddings, so we just had our DJ make the few necessary announcements. She had tons of personality and was great at introducing the speeches, toasts and our grand entrance.

@hotchocolate:Hi – It worked out well. Alot of it was that our DJ was so nice and personable. He was one vendor that I was shocked by. Basically, I expected him to show up on the day of. But, he met with us prior to discuss the schedule. Then he showed up at the venue for a walk through at a time he knew we would be there. He also checked in with us during the night. We also didnt have a strict schedule so that may have helped. He introduced us and the wedding party, introduced all the dances, and the speeches. My Maid/Matron of Honor had to really build up courage for a speech :). He was really flexible with the speeches while she had a drink to calm her nerves, lol.

One of our groomsmen is our MC. Not the best man.
