I think either would work and it depends on if you want a lighter or darker overall look. Generally, extensions should be within two shades of your natural hair color. Ash is within this as is the chocolate brown, just on the other spectrum. I’ve had a million different colors of extensions and I think all look fine if you stay within the two shades. I’ll try to find some photos.

These are all the same exact set of extensions.

In this my own hair is more blonde and the extensions are brown.

In this one my own hair is red but the extensions are the same brown. It looks entirely different to me but it’s the same extensions.

Then in this one I was using a red color depositing shampoo to get the extensions more red.

This one is a completely different set of extensions but the extensions were quite a bit darker than my own hair. I would have preferred it blend better but also don’t think anyone would notice unless looking for it.

Trying again to get the photo of the first pair of brown extensions using color depositing shampoo to work.

So in a nutshell I personally think it looks natural so long as you stay within two shades. Somehow it manages to blend.

My natural color is a boring light brown, but I don’t think I’ve actually seen it in over a decade. 🙂

I think the ash looks really damn good. Look at how close it matches the lighter part of your hair. I think it will look very natural to have a darker root with lighter ends, which is exactly what your own hair does.

Go with the chocolate shade and if needed refresh your hairwith a chocolate color hair dye. Schwarzkopf makes a beautiful chocolate shade 5-60.right now you have too many colors in your hair to make a perfect match to an extension shade.

The ash looks a little light tbh and the chocolate looks as though it may be too dark. Might be better to get lighter ones so that your hair dresser can dye them accordingly.
