We met on eHarmony in 2013, and have been married almost a year next month 🙂 I had subscribed YEARS ago (like 09ish) and was too lazy to really utilize the site so I cancelled my subscription, which I thought cancelled my profile – I was wrong. I got an email one day that said “Chris has sent you questions” and I literally lol’ed and said “good luck I don’t pay!”
It turned out to be the last few hours of a free communication weekend and we went through the whole routine before exchanging emails, then phone numbers, and we went out on our first date that Saturday and have been going strong ever since.
It is so funny – I went out with friends that previous weekend and said I should get back into the dating scene. I apparently was the very first person eharmony matched him with when he moved to my city about a year prior, as well.

My fiancé and I met online several years ago too! 🙂

We met on OKCupid… Twice… The first time I wasn’t really in a good headspace to be dating, so we never met up (despite a few near misses). He re-messaged me about a year and a half later, and the rest is history. Someone really should’ve told me that was my future husband I was blowing off. 😛 As you can imagine, he still loves to give me a hard time over it!

we met on OK cupid and we’re pretty open about it.

RSVP, he was my first real-life meet up, I was his second. Didn’t expect it to work out so well really! He proposed 1.5 years later, and we’re looking to marry in early 2018 🙂 We’re pretty open about the online dating thing now, but I was definitely hesitant saying so in the beginning lol.

I admit it- we met off of Craigslist! Though my family thinks we met at a party.

POF. It had been almost a year since the break up of a long term relationship with my ex. I had just broken up with my rebound and gone out on a horrible set up date with a friend of a friend. I decided to give it a shot. Future-DH messaged me right away, along with many others. Within a week, I went on three dates and chose him. We met up at a trivia night at a local pizza place with my friends and, funny enough, one of my friend’s parents. Basically all my friends know we met online, because they were around when I was doing the online dating. DH tells people we met at trivia, which is also technically true. I know many serious couples that met online.

OK Cupid in 2013, and everyone knows we met online. We were talking for a couple months and then he just stopped all communication for about a week with no explanation, so I got mad and blew him off the next time he tried to contact me. Fast forward a few months later and he messaged me again, and today marks our 3 year anniversary. I always make fun of him and tell him he just couldn’t find anyone as amazing as me, so he came running back.

We met on Myspace! I had held out and refused to make an account when I was 17 and finally made one. A friend and I sat down and were essentially just browsing for cute guys and sending requests. I never thought anything would come of it. He messaged me and we started talking. We talked on AIM for three months and then met in person when he came home for Thanksgiving (he was in the Army). This year makes 10 years 🙂

Ha! love this. I am in a new relationship with a lovely man I met on Tinder (of all places!) and we have just clicked and it is looking promising, the funny thing is, we met a year before on POF, we got on great by messages and were just about to arrange a meet up, but my Dad was taken seriously ill, and I too was not in the right headspace, so I just deleted my dating apps! I was single for 2 years, but it is weird to think we could have started this all a year sooner! lol

Love this thread.
We met online! Similar to your story as I had just come out of a long term relationship which went sour. We have been together 5 and a half years now. We lived 80 miles apart. We exchanged numbers pretty much the same day we started talking online so we were actually whatsapp-ing for most of the first month. He had a real way with words! Then I travelled to near his home for our first date which was amazing. Then we never looked back! Moved in with him just under a year after we started dating, but did long distance (weekend meet ups) up until that point. even after a year of dating, our relationship still felt really new when I moved in and we were still sort of getting to know eachother. I’ve loved every minute of it. I feel so lucky to have met him and I have the internet to thank for that! I would never have imagined being with a guy like him until I met him. I had been looking in ALL the wrong places!
Some of my friends know the real story of how our worlds collided, although we have a different version that we told our parents. We will be engaged soon (picked the setting, bought the diamond) and we will come clean on our wedding day! hopefully it’s a story that will make everyone laugh and also make them realise that online dating is great and really can be the start of something special!

Christian Mingle! Everyone who cares to know, does. We still can’t believe we found each other.

We met on a non-dating site for people who want to learn other languages. He was looking to work on his English and I was planning a trip to Morocco so wanted to learn Moroccan Arabic (Darija) we started talking and then were talking for hours and hours then phone then video then I flew to Morocco and we got engaged 🙂 I dont think he was interested in anything at first but the more we talked the more similarities we realized we had.

We met on OKCupid! At the time I was working for a fashion and art school, and he works at a branding agency, but neither of us had been able to meet anyone through our circles. I was under his age bracket (I’m 7 years younger) so if I hadn’t reached out, we never would’ve met! I messaged him about an interesting inconsistency in his profile, and we emailed for a week (he was away on business) before we met and went out. We just knew that this was it!

I’ll chime in because no one has mentioned the site where SO and I met yet – Coffee Meets Bagel! It’s definitely a smaller site and not in all areas of the country for sure – mostly bigger cities I think. But we met almost 2 years ago and have been together since! Looking forward to an engagement in the not-so-distant future!
