willy22:  It somehwat depends on where you live. Ther are areas, the UK for instance, where the bride and groom commonly pay for all the wedding party’s clothing.

In other places, it is common for the parents of the flower girl to purchase the dress.

If you don’t want anything too elaborate, you can get cute little girls’ dresses at stores like TJ Maax, JC Penney etc.

These two dresses are on clearance at JCP for $14.99

It’s really not hard to find inexpensive dresses for little girls. Check stores in the spring after Easter and First Communion season. I bet there will be a fair amount in clearance.

ETA: You can find adorable girl dresses on Zulily for great prices.

If the dress you want is outside the budget the mother of the Flower Girl would want to pay, you could certainly cover the extra cost.

I will be paying for the flower girl’s dress as well as the ring bearer’s outfit. But I will not be paying for the rest of the bridal party attire. I’m doing it mostly as a courtesy since both kids are my sister’s, and she is my Chief Bridesmaid. I know it’s going to be tough as is for her to pay for her own dress as well as travel for the wedding, and I want to make it as easy on their family as possible. I’ve started researching, and there are some cute dresses for not very expensive out there. Good luck!!

Maybe offer to split it with her? I plan on buying the dress for my Flower Girl because her mom is my wedding also, and they will have to stay at a hotel for the wedding so they’re already spending quite a bit.

Look on Etsy and you will find zillions of inexpensive but gorgeous flower girl dresses.  They come in every colour under the rainbow and can be made and shipped within a month. Amazon have a huge range too and it’s good to read reviews from other purchasers.

My Brother-In-Law paid for the flower girl dress for my niece. I kind of felt bad because we ended up falling in love with a dress that was way more expensive than I ever thought flower girl dresses could be.

ETA – We shopped at a couple local boutiques and at David’s Bridal and Alfred Angelo. David’s Bridal by far had the best prices for dresses and they were cute too. Alfred Angelo is where we ended up ordering the dress from and it was just about the more precious dress ever, but was more expensive than anything we tried at David’s Bridal.

We paid but one of our flowergirls’ mother did offer to pay. The other flowergirl’s dad was in the wedding so we felt bad for him to have too many expenses…..

I’m in the camp that no one in the wedding party should pay for their own outfits, adults or kids. YOU asked them, so they shouldn’t be expected to pay. You can find some really cheap little girls dresses, mine were $40 and super cute. Check ebay, check target, im sure with enough searching something will come up. Do not even LOOK at flower girl dresses in bridal stores, they are super expensive and you don’t want to risk falling in love with something that haa delightful, soft fabric as all you will do is compare then you won’t find anythjng else you like.
