We bought each other’s. ‘On paper’ really as we are pretty fluid and share each other’s accounts.

We paid jointly as we had joint finances.

If we didn’t have joint finances, I would have purchased them because he purchased my e-ring. Also, my wedding band was about $500 more expensive than his and it just woudn’t have felt right asking him to pay for mine when it was so much more than his.

Every case is different though. It looks like he makes more than you though so can you afford to purchase both? Maybe split them in half or as a percentage of what you both make? I think it’s best that you talk to him about it.

NightOwl27:  My e-ring came with my wedding band, but we got another added to make it more unique. I paid for that, which was fine.

For DH’s wedding band, I also paid for that one as it wasn’t that expensive compared to what he spend on my rings.

I’m not sure what to do either. I have a feeling mine will cost a lot more than his (I’m likely to get something with diamonds), so my options are either to buy his and mine, or to buy his and top up the difference on mine that he buys, so we end up paying an equal amount. I also wondered about the protocol!

Didn’t matter to us, all our money is pooled so theres no distinction in who made the money.

Where I live, in Italy, it is tradition for the witness (a close friend or relative) to buy them! I’m not Italian and find it quite strange… maybe that’s why most people stick to simple gold bands. I’d have felt very embarassed “demanding” a diamond band

We paid for each other’s. We share finances though so it really didn’t matter.

Our account was not yet joint, so I paid for his and he paid for mine.

the money comes from the same place regardless since we have joint accounts, but we like the gesture of buying the other person’s so I physically paid for my FI’s. We haven’t gotten my wedding band yet but Fiance will be going to get it when the time comes (I want him to pick it out for me too so it’ll be a surprise 🙂 )

After about 2 years of dating, everything was comingled anyway, so the rings were just paid for from our bank account. All the mine and yours made things too complicated.

I paid for his, then I helped him pay for a small fraction of mine (the one I picked was a tad bit more than he expected to pay that day).

It’s come out of our joint wedding account.
