I found some rings I liked and from there we made adjustments to one and designed a ring we both liked to symbolize our commitment 🙂 I can’t be one of those girls who leaves it all up to the man to surprise me lol.

lulun :  I found a general concept for the e-ring I liked online.  My husband got together with the maker and redesigned it to suit some of his own desires – he didn’t like the original diamond setup, change the stone size, things like that.  We had some things we agreed on from the start: we both wanted sterling silver, he wanted diamonds and I wanted an aquamarine so we agreed to have diamond sidestones, we wanted it small, we wanted it inexpensive.  The price mattered to me in that I did not want him spending thousands on a ring – if he had, I’d be seriously quesitoning his financial decisions.  He came in under 1000 so that suited us both just fine.

Recently he mentioned that if he had to do it again he’d go a bit bigger on the stones.  I don’t have a problem as it is, but odds are one day we’ll have to replace it because of the material.  If he wants to increase the size slightly then, I won’t complain about it.  If he goes nuts (he won’t) I’d find it unwearable, though.  I snag it enough anyway!

I did.  Although I worked with a jeweler to do a custom ring.

We set a budget jointly, and I gave my Fiance regular opportunities to give feedback/opinions and feel a part of the process, but we felt since it was going to be on my finger, ultimately it matted that I was happy with it.

He picked the diamond and I picked the setting. I am VERY fussy, so I basically told him “Some day, if you ever think you might consider proposing to me… please keep in mind that you will have the happiest finacee on the planet if you let me help pick out the ring that will never leave my finger.” He replied “Trust me sweetheart… WHEN I propose, I will take you to the jeweller and you can knock yourself out!” I didn’t want to be greedy or go over any budget he may have had, so when the day came, so we could say we both participated, I suggested he choose the diamond and I would choose the setting. It worked nicely for us.

He had no concept of what to look for in a ring, so he basically told me to send him exactly what I wanted and he bought it, even down to the carat size and diamond specs I was looking for. He told me he would be cool with spending $5,000 so I made sure that what I picked came in just under budget.

We went and tried on rings and i loved so many of them so he decided which one he preferred (without me knowing) and got a similar ring made up to fit an heirloom diamond. Overall I wasnt overly happy with the jeweler as he refused to make the band and halo width less than 3mm (and my boyfriend at the time was oblivious to what the widths all meant or looked like)… so we are now getting it adjusted at another jewelers… but i love the look he went for haha just not the thickness. So now thinking back to it, i would have preferred to make the designing of the ring a joint effort… he tells me what he likes and i have a say in the finish haha if that makes sense! Either way, marriage is a joint effort so it just seems right

Fiance picked it. He asked what metal I liked and if I would like  a certain shape diamond.

I never had a “dream ring” or anything. I’m very happy with what he picked, he has great taste.

DH designed my engagement ring himself. I didn’t know he was even thinking about proposing, so the whole thing was a big surprise to me. He does have great choice in jewellery though and I’ve loved every piece he’s bought me over the years, so the engagement ring was no different – the stone is perhaps a little larger than I would have picked for myself but overall the ring is perfect.

We are going through this right now! When getting engaged came up, he asked me if I knew what type of ring I wanted. I always thought I wanted it to be a total surprise, but after that conversation I started looking online and went to a few jewelry stores. After looking at/trying on a million rings I realized I am way too “type A” for that and have some very particular preferences on the setting. Today I think I found the one, so I’m planning on showing it to him tonight and letting him take it from there! I trust his judgment, but I am going to strongly suggest that he work with the girl at the jewelers who helped me so much in picking out the setting.

We went browsing and I showed him several styles I liked in various carat sizes and styles. He picked the final ring and set his own budget. He ended up having one designed because I fell in love with a ring very similar to the one I ended up with  except it had a double halo that I wasn’t fond of. I kept saying “if only it were a single halo it would be perfect!”, so he made it happen.

I am not engaged yet but I know that my SO picked out a ring with his sister.  So I am not so anxiously waiting.  I am nervous to see whether or not it is my style.  But i know his sister has great taste.

lulun :  My husband designed my ring with the help of the jeweller. He knew that I loved dark blue sapphires and white gold. I had zero design input.

He came up with something beautiful. I cherish my ring.

My husband picked it out I gave him no direction at all. I love my wedding ring set and I’m glad it came straight from his heart

His uncle actually asked me 3 years ago what I would want, I said oval with a really thin band. FH overheard and made a note of it in his phone. I told him later on that I would want rose gold. My best friend and I also shared pics of rings we would want, I gave her a few different styles and when he was aware of that since he knew My besties husband came to me. In the end, he customized the perfect ring but it was built off the information he gathered that I supplied. I’m sure if I never said anything I wouldn’t have an oval and there’s an good chance I wouldn’t have rose gold lol
