I am getting a single ring (as opposed to an engagement ring / wedding ring set) custom made. Fiance and I both contributed to the design. I supplied the stones, he paid for the setting.

CloverBells :  My ring was the same way! Only difference is that I told him that I didn’t want him to spend over $1,000.

He had a budget that he ideally wouldn’t go over, and we picked out the diamond and setting together. We were just talking about this last night. He told me if he had gone shopping by himself, he probably would have just picked up a solitaire at Tiffany’s. For the specs and the quality, it would have been twice as much -_-  good thing I was involved.

He picked it completely on his own. He never asked me a single question about what I liked, he just went off the type of jewellery I usually wear. That is very much his way of doing things (likes to surprise me)  and I love that it was all him. It’s also pretty common where I live for it to happen that way.

My fiance and I went shopping together multiple times but ultimately he picked out the ring. He set a budget and picked the ring accordingly. He knew I really wanted a plain solitaire so it wasn’t too hard for him!

He chose everything. I didn’t have a single input because I didn’t know he was planning to propose πŸ€£πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ but I’m perfectly happy with what he chose for me. It felt just right when he put it on my finger. The size matched perfectly, though I didn’t even know my own ring size. So proud of him! 😍 He was like a diamond expert by the time he proposed πŸ˜‹

My husband picked it out. He did pretty well—looking at what I already owned. He knew I liked my great grandmother’s setting, so he was smart enough to go for white gold. He picked out something simple thinking it more was my style. I’m glad he went with a white gold solitaire.

If we get an upgrade someday, I’ll definitely be involved. I know a lot more about rings now than I used to because all my time lurking on weddingbee!

Fi and I went out looking. We didnt talk about budgets but I had an idea of what was reasonable so I ran with that. We both looked at rings and would only buy one we both liked.

In the end his budget was a little more than I thought. iI found out after we found ‘the one’ that filled the description of what I wanted and he thought it was perfect. It was really enjoyable as we had champagne and chocolate from the seller to congratulate us (even though we werent actually engaged till months later!)

He gave me a budget and I took it from there. I went looking for the stone, setting, and jeweler all by myself. But when it came time to put a deposit on it, I asked him to come in to see the stone just to make sure he was ok with it. Of course, he approved. He did say he likes the solitaire pave shank setting for my ring but that’s not me at all. So in the end, i just told him “sorry babe, but I am not going with that setting” πŸ˜‚ anyway, he doesn’t mind because at the end of the day, he’s happy when I’m happy 😁

My husband picked out my ring. It is perfect for me, no direction on my end. I consider myself lucky, but really you can’t go wrong with a solitaire.

We discussed a budget and I created a pinterest board based on that, with lots of different options and examples. He surprised me by going completely over-budget and getting me something amazing that I’d mentioned years ago that I loved!

The Fiance and I went and picked it out together. We were browsing around and wasn’t intending to purchase it just yet but we both fell in love with a ring and since diamond prices shoot sky rocket over where I am, he decided to purchase it then and there. He set a budget but I chose something way less, didn’t think an e-ring should cost so much.

Didn’t see it since we bought it till the day he proposed, 7 months later – last week πŸ™‚

He picked it, a complete surprise to me.  I never really even looked at or noticed e-rings before, but he got it absolutely spot on.  Very classic, simple setting yg with platinum prongs and then added a bit of uniqueness with the stone shape as an oval.  He had a family friend help him source the most incredible stone.  For me personally, I would never have wanted to choose or be involved as the surprise was so lovely and showed he just captured my personality so perfectly. I’m very sentimental and it meant a lot to me that he had put so much thought into it and got it so spot on. Also in the UK I think its far less common to be involved vs. the US from the sound of things.
