We’re paying for and planning ours.  The Future In-Laws may chip in, but I’m not expecting it. We’re inviting the bridal party and their SOs, parents, and some out of town family.

My dad and FI’s parents are splitting the cost for the wedding basically down the middle, except for a few small things. I booked the Rehearsal Dinner space and the folks are splitting the cost for it. We’re inviting the wedding party plus any Out of Town guests and I am thinking it’ll end up being pretty large. Original plan was 40 guests, but Future Mother-In-Law got EXTREMELY excited when she found out we could have up to 85 guests… I’m getting a little annoyed at her guest issues here and for the wedding too, but that’s another post entirely… 😉

It’s a restaurant in town. They have really good food for just about everyone, plus awesome in-house crafted beer. Pizza, cheese soup, chicken quesadillas, fish and chips – pub food but with a slightly gourmet spin. There’s a/v set-up, free room rental, and a minimum for food. Hope someone makes something with photos or a video for us – I kinda love it when I see that happen at rehearsal dinners!

“Traditionally,” the groom’s family pays for and plans (with the couple’s help) the rehearsal dinner.

In modern day, it’s up to each particular family. Sometimes the couple arranges it; sometimes it’s the parents of the bride; and sometimes it’s the parents of the groom.

In addition to immediate family, you invite anyone involved in the wedding who will be at the rehearsal, including the officiant, bridal party, ring bearers and flower girls, any readers etc. It’s polite to invite the dates of the bridal party, too. Some people choose to invite out of town guests—that’s up to your budget and your guest list. 🙂
